Nope, they're not equal. The point is some rights are fundamental to human beings like freedom and deciding what I'm going to do with my own reproductive decisions. |
+1. Also writing from the deep south. This messaging doesn't land because it doesn't resonate. It doesn't align with the reality we see and live in our actual states. Women are still able to get medical abortions, and elective abortions for the first 2 months ish. I'm an educated white suburban swing state woman and the dem messaging on this is borderline offensive. |
Abortion is to “healthcare,” as slavery is to “human resources.” |
Sounds like a reason to vote at the state level but not presidential level. |
Right. I believe that it should be the parents’ choice in collaboration with their doctors. |
Slavery is wrong. So are abortion bans. |
Same here. It’s one or two rabid posters here with the fearmongering and hyperbole. Only a gullible fool would take them seriously. |
Slavery is wrong. So are elective abortions. |
Please explain Amber Thurman’s death then. |
Take a Xanax and have a cold shower.
I am a woman and I don’t vote on the single issue of abortion (ever) because other, more important issues affect my everyday life and the lives of my family members more. For Gen Z, teen pregnancy is just under 70% lower than it was for my generation. It’s not just my family- it’s the entire Gen Z. That’s good news. |
Every woman in my child's school parent community is voting for Harris. Repro freedom is a big part of it, but there are also so many other reasons we all care about (fascism, brain drain out of Trump's inner circle so only maga yes men, pattern of misogyny, sexual assault allegations, racism, zero character strengths, convicted felonies, etc.).
Like it's not hard to make a choice against him! |
We’ve reached widespread consensus that slavery should be illegal. We have not reached such a widespread consensus on abortion. The abortion ballot initiatives since Dobbs suggest that the majority of Americans think elective abortions should be legal. |
How often does that happen after week 28 (beginning of third trimester) vs terminating earlier? Where are the clinics that will terminate after week 28? Even when it’s a life threatening issue it’s hard to find a clinic or doctor who will terminate at that point as opposed to doing a c section or inducing. There are maybe 2 or 3 clinics at most who offer such a procedure in all of the US. |
The reality is doctors do not want to do third trimester abortions. |
Technically, the state compelling the use of one’s body against their will is slavery. |
