So in all these many, many abortion discussions here no one has said this (don't shoot the messenger) there are women who have never been pregnant, never had kids, are asexual, never thought about having kids so the whole abortion thing doesn't phase them or make a huge impact in their life or thought process. So when you say, how is this not a big deal" its just not for a lot of women. |
A large reason is sex selective abortions where women abort a male or female child because it’s not what was wanted.
|
Yes. Don’t forget the childless cat ladies may vote for Trump and Vance after all if it’s in their self interest which obviously Roe v Wade wouldn’t be. Also what about lesbians? framing abortion as the only issue women should care about ironically is sexist and controlling women’s body. It’s like the olden textbooks that called vaginas birth canals. It’s a heteronormative presumption like people who get aghast at happily child free married couples |
Okay. And do these women also have no sisters, no friends, and nobody else they care about? Tell me, are the women in the room with us right now? |
Are you trying to say that women who have never been pregnant and don't want kids don't care about their reproductive rights? If anything, these women would be MORE distressed by their right to choose being taken away in the event of an unintended pregnancy. |
lesbians what about lesbians? I only know one lesbian couple and they have kids. |
I feel like you're trying to be sarcastic but I don't understand what you're trying and failing to convey. |
I have lots of childless (by choice) friends. I have lots of never married (by choice) friends. Every single one of them is voting for Harris. Because as the PP said, these women have friends, sisters, nieces, people they care about, who would be affected by abortion bans and lack of access to proper healthcare. |
Also there are a lot of women who have never had a pregnancy scare either. |
There is a concerted effort from the abortion lobby and its allies in media to convince Americans that there is no such thing as elective late term abortion. It isn’t true.
Abortion is mostly an elective procedure
Correct. There is also an effort to mislead people that miscarriage care, including D&C for a miscarriage is outlawed when in fact no state does this. It is intended to confuse and you can see it as the low information voters of DCUM post non stop lies that a D&C for a miscarriage is now illegal. It isn’t true in any state. |

We had the protections of roe in place for over 50 years and the earth continued to spin and it will also do so when we get our rights legally enshrined again. |

Our neighbors to the north managed to figure this out, and nobody is having problems with it. Why do we get all the super-aggressive christofacists? |
Regardless of anything else, at least we don't have to listen to that weird old "moral majority" refrain about abortion anymore. The forced birthers used to believe they had majority silent support, but whenever it's been on the ballot, people vote to keep abortion rights. Even in Kansas.
Abortion rights have won in every election since Roe v. Wade was overturned: Abortion has been on the ballot in seven states since June 2022. In each instance, anti-abortion groups have lost. https://x.com/thehoustonwade/status/1852935336361676805?s=46&t=kf1qYlCXQnKgUhJWEIu2vg Are some women voting otherwise? Sure. mBut if this is your identity issue, you are well in the minority. Police yourself, not the rest of us. |
Not my college students. They are sickened by the whole thing and want no part of it. |
Are they voting for trump? |
