Well yes, it totally matters. Due to the rewiring of the brain he was not able to choose to recover. Addiction makes people unable to think clearly.

Zayn Malik just postponed the US leg of his tour to after the new year because of Liam's death.

Everyone thought he was crazy to quit 1D when he walked away during their heyday but he may have saved his own life.

That’s not what was being said – I’m a different poster by the way. He was abusive toward his ex and forced her into an abortion. He and his friends harassed her to keep quiet when he was the abuser. He played those games. She put it out in the open as she should have. She is not to blame here.
