MIL took a selfie at a funeral

My dad is like your MIL. Totally insensitive and narcissistic. He went to my best friends funeral with me and afterward said “so glad to be out of there. So morbid.” He and your MIL only think of themselves.

I am with the posters who say to ignore this. Nothing you can say will get through to MIL and in the end it won't make you feel any better. If she's always being inappropriate for attention, the absolute worst thing for her is to be ignored. Which it sounds like everyone else has done.

I am sorry for your loss OP and I am sorry for this situation.

If ever there's a good occasion to use that one word reply, this is it.

Yes, I am so glad you were able to come and support me in mourning and celebrating my grandmother. I am very sad about her passing. You were able to capture a great photo at her service.

Did anyone respond?

OP here. No one responded. I know OPs brothers and spouses feel similar about MIL, so I think their approach when she does something like this is to ignore her.

She sounds like an attention hog, so maybe this is the correct response. Hoo boy. She sounds like a real winner. Sorry, OP.
