Why are you driving your child to the bus stop? How bizarre.

Apparently my post didn’t make much sense.

The reason I drive is because I go straight to work and it’s on the way. Other than that, it’s dark and there aren’t sidewalks.

To answer the other poster, the point of my post is that 6:45am is a pain but you get over it. Yes, I let my kids stay more more often than I did when they were in elementary. They had almost perfect attendance back then. Now I don’t care as much.

Wow that's so lazy.

Come back when you have a middle schooler and let us know if your kid goes after the first couple of half days. It’s much different than middle and high school. I’ve experienced both.

My experience sending four children through middle school and high school has been that the early-release days are just as important as the regular days because teachers still teach critical lessons or give assessments on those days. It's a lot more difficult to make up work and assessments when there can be 2-3 assessments in one day. There's only a small amount of time during Mascot Time, and if the kid makes up the assessment during class, he/she is then missing the next lesson.

This would great if it were possible for me but my middle schooler is my oldest. The elementary school bus comes two hours later! So I can't leave until much later.

It is early, but 2 years is bearable. DC loves getting done early. It makes the afternoon and evening feel long.

6 months left and with holidays maybe only 2 actual months so home stretch for this school year. It goes faster than people may think.

School is not optional. Ever. No matter the pattern of the day.

I have experienced both too and the policy remains.
