What’s the latest with proposed later middle school start time?

Haven’t seen any recent news on this, I am hoping someone in the loop knows any updates.
This would be for next school year.

Changing times was never a feasible option, it involves changing too many other parts of the system. Quite a few of us knew from the get-go that nothing was gonna happen.

nothing has changed and doesn't seem like it will.

Again FCPS doesn't care about what is good for families and kids.

Fell free to write them a large check so they can buy all the additional buses needed to start MS later.

If you aren’t prepared to do that you should shut the hell up.

How about they reimburse us for the wasted money they spent on hiring a company who was looking into solutions for this issue. Where are the solutions and the presentation they were supposed to provide us with last January?

Given this it is strange that they spent money hiring a consultant on this, put out all the news articles and publicity, when it's pretty obvious that they eliminated all options that would have made it work. Did they think hiring a consultant was going to generate good will? Did they think they'd get enough good publicity over this in WTOP to make it worth the outcry when nothing changes? If so, they aren't very smart.

I think they need to move the elementary school times first and then the middle and high school times later. 8:10 time for high school still involves a 650 bus pick up which is ridiculously early, Only 10 minutes after the middle schoolers bus. We ended up having to drive our high schooler daily because it allows 45 extra minutes of sleep.

Where do you live in FFX County that has an hour and fifteen-minute bus ride?

Its normal if they are having the same bus do a HS double run.

When did they move the high school start time back? Was that 10 years ago? I think they used to start before middle school and they switched them.

Thank you - this gives me hope!

Does it? The presentation says that they have a shortage of 150 drivers and they would need to buy additional buses at a half 1 million each…. I’m not sure there’s much hope there.

The only reason they’re spending this money is so that they can show you how expensive it will be and how it’s not worth it for two years of your children’s lives.
