OP here. I agree that this is why Trump has gained the ground he has. And I did vote for Trump in 2016...but his divisive rhetoric was a huge turn off for me so I voted my conscience and ended up with Biden...which was fine because we had Youngkin who I'd voted for. But in the last 4 yrs it has been the too far left Dems and their divisive rhetoric that is turning me off. Biden dropping out opened the gates for a moderate Dem and despite what a previous poster has said....I believe there is more than 30% of both moderate Dems and Moderate Reps together who would be willing to work together and compromise. |
Yeah, Trump created Operation Warpspeed. Without him we would still be waiting for the Pfizer and Moderna. mRNA would not be a thing we'd be talking about at all if Trump hadn't demanded fast action... it's the one thing we ALL owe him a huge debt of gratitude for. |
...and that's where you lose me. It was Trump and the Republicans who revived anti-vax ideas into the mainstream and re-framed public health as a matter of "personal freedom." Right-leaning activists even used the matter to taunt pro-choice people. Trump did a pretty terrible job with COVID, and it's easily the lowest point of his presidency. |
Oh, Trump went on to talk about bleach and all that, but a lot of people forget that Operation Warpspeed was his idea. Trump will go down in history as the reason we have mRNA vaccines. I hope EVERYONE remembers that.
|
He really deserves far more credit for Operation Warp Speed than he has gotten. My spouse worked on that project at FDA; the speed, efficiency, and resources Warp Speed provided were unprecedented. |
I really hope not. Not because of political reasons, but we should put more praise into scientists. It's not even about the comments on Bleach or whatever ridiculous things he said. It's the anger at dems for trying to get people to take the vaccines. He was booed by his own base in Dallas for saying he got the Booster shot, because his base was so used to him trashing on the vaccines. Trump wasn't proud of it for a long long time, and he encouraged his base who didn't get the vaccine. |
I think his base would like to know that without Trump there wouldn't have been mRNAs and Pfizer and Moderna wouldn't be the heroes that we all think they are today. Anything you can do to help inform his voters that he deserves more credit for this would help so much! |
Quit trying to make fetch happen. You want Manchin, push out Trump. |
Trump doesn’t give a flying fig about social policy outside of its ability to win him an election. He is for sale to the highest bidder which at this point is the evangelical Christians when it comes to social policy. Dobbs was overturned because of his actions. Now he tells candidates to pump the breaks on the abortion talk because he knows it’s not popular. He doesn’t care that his actions have had such a horrible fallout. The next swath of social policies for this “abortion for me, but not for thee” candidate is wrapped up in the sweaty palms of the authors of Project 2025. |
+1. Joe Biden is a pro-life Democrat FFS. |
Textbook projection. |
I dislike him personally but his policies will be much better for the US right now. Biden/Harris has been a disaster in so many ways. |
But is it? Moderates overwhelmingly vote on feelings and being uncomfortable with "division." Why should the two national parties pretend they're getting unified work done to make you feel better when, at the end of the day, this is a competitive space for political agendas? |
Well that makes them pro- choice. They might be pro-life for themselves but pro-choice for others. And “pro-life” really means anti-abortion which is restricting women’s bodily autonomy. |
