DC Black Upper Class & Georgetown University

This happens so often when OP seed post is disingenuous and they schill their own responses.

doubt it, even in DC... the black elite is still a mystery

The data shows that they don't send their kids to HBCU in large amounts or Ivy league schools in large amounts

if i had to guess, i would say it's a mix of California top schools and top Southern Schools, like the previous post mentioned

It's probably up there because its endowment is so low so they have slightly fewer fully financial aid students, and fewer athletes on scholarship, but still, though there is a group of incredibly wealthy, it's otherwise a quite grounded student body.

It has one of the wealthiest. NYT had a good article laying out what % came from the top 1%, top 10%, top 20% etc. I believe roughly 20% of GU's student body comes from the top 1% and the majority come from the top 20% of households.

No, you’re wrong. This thread is about where Black elites send their children to college. It’s certainly not the University of Phoenix. 🙄

isn't it ironic that black "elites" don't send their kids to schools that are top producers of black degrees

NYU and UMD are on the list

I knew a Du Bois (yes, a relative) at Georgetown, who told me their parents were disappointed that they turned down Ivies in favor of Georgetown. They could have gone anywhere but picked Georgetown because it was the best fit for them.

NYU and UMD are not coveted universities for the Black elite.

If you're a descendant of Dubois, you 100% should be going to Harvard

It’s ironic white “elites” don’t send their kids to schools that are top producers of white degrees.

Very strange, some off to very elite schools like Cornell, Penn, Duke and WashU, and then others in very mediocre places like Pomona and Lehigh! Don't see HBCUS!!!

Not just over the last few years. I'm 54, and one of my friends in college had an older sister attending Spellman; we were so excited to go visit her.

This entire thread opened with OP saying Georgetown has the wealthiest student body in the country. Not "one of," "the." It's just not true.
