It is also a crime in Virginia to have an affair and people do it all the time |
How long are you in the left lane before your exit? If more than .5-1 mile, then you are the ahole. You should also be confident to maintain the speed of traffic for such a short distance. But something tells me you don't know how to merge correctly, and camps in the left lane for miles before your exit. |

Reading all the bullying jerks on this thread (or is it just the same one?) makes me want to drive in the left lane at exactly the speed limit just to make them blow a fuse at their inability to control the world.
Speed, inattention, overconfidence, and llack of consideration for others are all bigger problems on our crowded DC area roads than driving at or slightly above speed limit in left lane. Reminder - driving 20 miles over the speed limit is reckless driving in both VA and MD. Always is for 85-90 miles a hour. If you are tailgating because someone is doing 75 in a 65 (rather than getting into right lane were they are doing 60) then *you* are the ahole. |
Generally don't respond to individualized comments on here, but here you go - about a mile at most, and I am generally traveling 5-10 miles OVER the speed limit. So, no, I'm not the a-hole. The dude in the giant black pick up truck who insists on going 90-100 mph and tailgates me until I exit is. |
Or the other micropeens in their “muscle” cars/modded Hondas 😂 |
So the left lane abusers are spiteful jerks? Who would have thought. Just drive correctly FFS. It’s really not that hard. |
“Correctly” doing a lot of work there. 85 or above is never correct in DMV area. It is reckless and illegal. Quit the tailgating. |
Right. Driving correctly is going the speed limit or below in all lanes. You aren’t entitled to break the law just because you’re in the left lane. |
Just because you are an ignorant moon does not give you the right to create hazards for everyone else. https://www.progressive.com/lifelanes/on-the-road/driving-in-the-left-lane/#:~:text=Driving%20in%20the%20left%20lane%20can%20be%20risky,weave%20between%20lanes%20to%20pass. https://www.vox.com/2014/6/16/5804590/slow-left-lane-driving-rules-us-traffic-illegal https://living.geico.com/driving/auto/car-safety-insurance/left-lane-driving/ https://www.g3helpme.com/blog/the-dangers-of-driving-too-slowly-in-the-fast-lane And thousands of others. Don't loaf in the left lane. Period. |

“Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?”

It’s really not that hard. Stay right, pass left. Millions of people all over the world have mastered this very basic skill. I believe in you. |
I was recently driving in Italy, and it was incredible on the highways (don't get me started about driving in the cities with the scooters). People would stay in the slower lanes until they needed to pass, then jump in the left lane to pass, and then get back. This allowed the faster cars to continue on, and the slower cars were out of the way. We have too many Karen's here who feel justified driving the speed limit in the left lane. I say ticket the left lane cruisers. |
|
I am on highway with posted speed limit of 65. I choose to go 75. People in middle lane are going 65. I pass them on the left but I am in left lane all the time.
Am I cruising? What if I choose to go 80. Still cruising? At what speed over limit does it change from cruising to speeding? |
You’re still wrong. The left lane is used for passing, but to pass someone you must not exceed the speed limit. So, if I’m in the left lane and going the speed limit, it’s not interfering with anyone’s lawful use of the road. I will be passing anyone going under the speed limit. You’re not entitled to break the law just because there is bare pavement. |
So despite KNOWING that others will be speeding you will KNOWINGLY create a hazard that may cost someone their life? That is itself a crime. It is manslaughter at a minimum. A display of reckless disregard for human life. Have fun in jail. And with your conscience. Moreover, your parking in the left lane despite a law against it is suomehow a morally superior transgression of the law. Got it. Ms. Moral Superiority has shown up. Maybe it should be Ms. Moron Superiority. |
