You aren't getting balanced competition for sure either way with just one or two divisions. That's why SFL emphasized keeping the games a reasonable distance. At least that can be controlled. A lot of coaches have multiple rec teams that they coach. You can't coach two NVSC rec games and also a game in Fredericksburg or DC all in the same day. A travel coach can have NCSL work out his schedule so his games don't conflict but a rec coach doesn't have the same luxury if his other teams are internal house teams. Another reason to keep the games close by. |
There are other clubs in Loudoun. Being small is the reason to be in SFL. However, PSA rec is bigger than many clubs. I suspect they are using less space than allocated. They have hundreds of kids show up to each practice, splitting a single site into many fields. |
| Hundreds of kids showing up for one practice? What |
There’s no reason for Loudoun to be in SFL. They are in a much more diverse and successful operation. It shows when they compete against SFL teams in the Rec All Star tournaments. They usually dominate. |

Loudoun doesn't put teams older than U12 in All Star tournaments. You have no idea what you are talking about. |
Look at the results of U12 and below. It’s dominated by Loudoun. Don’t get your panties in a bunch. |
Only sometimes. They charge so much that many of the rosters are filled with non-allstars. One year a team was -30. |
What do you mean non all stars? |
Good players aren't trying out because the parents don't want to pay, so they are taking weaker players. One year for one age group, they should have had just one all star team. but instead they insisted on keeping two and went hunting for fill-ins. |
That’s annoying. I guess that kinda defeats the purpose of all stars. I just noticed that at Herndon Cup this past fall was dominated by Loudoun boys and girls in the U12 and under. I think they have a good program that’s unmatched right now. |
They do multiple age groups at a single practice, splitting the open space with all their equipment. |
But you were talking about SFL (NCSL-rec) age teams. For most places, that's U13 and up.Loudoun doesn't participate in all star tournaments above U12. So they aren't really competing with any SFL teams, at all, anywhere. |
There's nothing special about the Loudoun soccer program except they have a bajillion players, so obviously, their all star teams will be strong b/c they are choosing from 400 kids instead of 50. |
I'm confused. This is a rec soccer program? With Volunteer coaches? Usually coaches aren't all available to practice on the same field, at the same time. |

It looks like no teams had enough players showing up to play the home games in Fredericksburg. (Look at the scores for their home games vs. non FFC teams).
