FPYC only has one I think
Honestly some of the teams look so raggedy I would hardly call what they are wearing uniforms. The rec leagues really should give out numbered shirts as part of the fee instead of making people DIY. |
|
Making people buy two numbered jerseys to play a total of 7-8 games is a waste of money.
That's why you see kids in plain t-shirts with marker or ironed on numbers. Our league wants people to pay $45 for two shirts from soccer.com, wait weeks for shirts to arrive which may not even be until after the season starts and then pay to go get numbers put on them (or I guess, buy them from Amazon and do it yourself, but who even has an iron anymore?). For 8 games? |
| Gunston's uniforms are the same as travel, but with a different sponsor and cheaper socks. The fee is $110 if you register before January and includes the uniform. Are other teams much cheaper? |
Shouldn't almost every kid have a ball? They can use one of those for games if the coach is not able to buy one himself. It amazes me that a kid plays a sport and doesn't even have the most essential part of the sport. Even for a volunteer coach to not have their own ball is shocking. |
No, making them do that for 3-4 allstar games is the real racket and waste of money. |
It's shocking for a rec league to charge $200 and not give the coaches a $25 ball for games. |
Rec shouldn't charge $200 you are correct but for someone not to have their own ball available is a bit ridiculous. |
| No one said the coach didn't have a ball. The rec leagues should provide equipment for the game (pinnies, soccer ball.) |
|
Last year SYA charged us $200 and then we had to buy the uniform ourselves from online which was about $60. Then at the first practice the coach says we have to go buy numbers and iron them on. So $270 total. I read on here the league let teams play for free but coach was a parent so where did money go? One of our practice fields was grass no goals or anything, the other one was good field but four other teams on field same time and only one hour for practice. There were not a lot of games either maybe only 7 total. |
| $270!!!!!!!!!!! |
That's wild. That's like $40 per game. |
You’re right about that! All Stars is a complete racket. It’s usually a coaches kid and their friends paying extra at the end of the year as an afterthought. All rec parents want is their kid to have a decent soccer game experience during the regular season. But now the season is already off to a rough start with games in Fredericksburg and no way for coaches to coordinate with each other. Season opener is around the corner and nothing seems to be happening. So glad ncsl took over for sfl. |
Agree, the All Star shirt should be free. Every other rec sport gives out free all star clothes. |
| SFL always sent the coaches contact info on a separate document so I am assuming that is what NCSL did as well. |
That's true. We never had to pay for baseball and the All Star season was much longer. |
