How is 2024 worse than 2020? You're really asking this question? First of all, January 6th hadn't happened prior to the 2020 election. We new Trump was awful during the 2020 election but we didn't know he was capable of completely ignoring his role as Commander-in-Chief. Secondly, Biden had had a few years off prior to the 2020 election and seemed fresh minded for a 77 year old. He currently seems feeble minded and just feeble in general. That's the perception of the majority of the American people and the people's perception is what makes a candidate effectively weak or strong. Never before have we had the absolute worst candidate ever going up against one of the top 3 most weakest/most unpopular candidates in our history. There is no other election that comes close to this one as far as being in the worst of the worst category. We are guaranteed a president that should not, by any measure, be president for FOUR more years after January 2025. Let's just hope it isn't Trump.

If Trump wins, do you think he will voluntarily walk away from the presidency after his 2nd term ends in January 2029?

If he doesn't, we can watch him get ejected from The White House by the new prez. That would be entertaining.

I don't think you get it.

There won't be an opposition party. There won't be contrary judges. There won't be a non-compliant military or police force. There won't be a mechanism to "get ejected" from the White House. That isn't how authoritarians roll.

That isn't the way it works here in America, Boris. Now carry your ignorant, communist butt back to Moscow before you are ejected.

Dp- that isn’t the way it works NOW.
they have been very open and clear about dismantling and destroying the guardrails, and checks, and balances, that underpin our democracy.
Your ignorance is becoming tiresome, and inexcusable. Do better.

Oh, I forgot how mind-numbingly stupid you Trumpers were. Go read The Constitution. Oh, wait... you can't read, can you?

Honey, log off. You don’t even understand what you are reading and who you are responding to.
Hint: not a Trumper
Hint: definitely someone who has read project 2025 and is justifiably alarmed.

DP You misunderstood what that person was saying. You said that’s “not how America works” and you are correct but so was PP when they corrected you and said “now”. Because democracies CAN die and when authoritarians get control, they dismantle those guardrails by installing loyalists. So PPs point was not to have a false sense of security. It CAN happen here.

I get the energy behind the concern. The thing is, it can't happen here. When you suggest that it can, you are discrediting the brilliance of our founding fathers. I have to draw the line at that point because I care. The people that spew this nonsense are repeating garbage they heard from people like Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow. Guess what? These cable news anchors are professional fear-mongers. They are not Constitutional scholars and they don't care to be. I'm sorry to come off as know-it-all jerk. I don't know it all but I do know that Trump, Biden or any other president will not transition to "dictator". It should bother all Americans when the cable news people are able to successfully dupe otherwise smart people into fearing something that isn't possible.

You are discounting that both the courts and one of the political parties are supporting the move to an autocracy. If Trump takes office and has a compliant House (speaker Johnson is fully in the tank here) and a compliant Senate (the GOP in the senate have shown no indication of opposing Trump or Trumpism) and a compliant Supreme Court (no comment necessary) then it just takes a few key leaders in the military and the deed is done.

The ONLY thing preventing this is a Democrat victory in November.

You don't know what you're talking about. Wrong, wrong, wrong. You've been successfully fear mongered. It isn't necessary or helpful to use bogus talking points when trying to smear the notion of a second Trump presidential term. We all know he is awful. There are plenty of awful things to say about him that are truthful. Sure, if 2/3 of Congress and 2/3 of the state legislatures agreed to appoint Trump as our dictator, maybe it could happen. That ain't happening. Turn off the cable news, folks. You are being poisoned and it makes you appear much less intelligent than you probably are.

You are a know nothing, not a know it all.
Go read the heritage project 2025.
Have you bothered to do that yet?
You are breathtakingly ignorant.
He won’t be crowned king, but they will dismantle and destroy the civil service. They have been plain in their speech and plans regarding that.

Again, you are discrediting the brilliance of our founding fathers with your ignorance. You clearly don't believe in America or the Constitution. Why are you here? I don't want to breathe the same air as your communist loving arse. This is the United States. We have laws. The majority of us are good people with good intentions and as long as that is the case, our government will succeed. We don't need you and you anti-government beliefs around. Go away.

So that’s a no?
You haven’t read project 2025.
Shame on you. Find your inner patriot and do your duty.
I’ll keep posting about it here, so maybe another ( non troll) poster will be inspired to give it a look. It’s import for people to see what republicans have planned for our future and how destructive it is.

I'm familiar with The Constitution. I could care less what the Trump idiots think they are going to do. If you are so concerned about Trump being elected, why not seek out a non-GOP candidate that will destroy him like he easily could and should be destroyed so that you don't have to worry about this "project 2025" bull shite?

There is a non gop candidate. His name is Joe Biden. He the democratic candidate.

Republicans have had multiple opportunities to say definitively that Trump went too far but they fell in line and defended him every time. So he keeps going farther and farther and it is clear that there is nothing he could do that Republicans would not defend.

Who’s fear mongering?
The Heritage Foundation is a long standing mainstream Republican organization. They were founded in the 70’s and have been shaping Republican policy since the 80’s.
They have printed the manual they will be using. It’s not an imaginary bogey man.
There’s a pamphlet.

What if Trump invoked the Insurrection Act and then announced that he was canceling the 2028 election? Would Republicans find a reason to get behind this? Or would they finally stand up to him?

This is the politics forum.

And Donald Trump 2024 is the absolute worst presidential candidate in American history. So what are we worried about? Why all the outrageous Qanon fear-mongering? It doesn't seem necessary?

Who’s fear mongering?
The Heritage Foundation is a long standing mainstream Republican organization. They were founded in the 70’s and have been shaping Republican policy since the 80’s.
They have printed the manual they will be using. It’s not an imaginary bogey man.
There’s a pamphlet.

A pamphlet? The klan has pamphlets. The forced birthers have pamphlets.

The sitting president can't cancel an upcoming election. Not happening. Turn off the cable news. You are embarrassing yourself. Trump is the worst candidate for president in US history and therefore has zero chance of winning in 2024 yet you are worried about him canceling the 2028. What is wrong with you people?

So they are currently holding interviews (loyalty tests) right now, so they can put their cronies quickly put into place. It would reinstate the political spoils system that we worked hard as national to abolish.
We’ll see the end of institutional knowledge, with the end of career civil servants.

It should bother all Americans when the cable news people are able to successfully dupe otherwise smart people into fearing something chat isn't possible.

Republicans have had multiple opportunities to say definitively that Trump went too far but they fell in line and defended him every time. So he keeps going farther and farther and it is clear that there is nothing he could do that Republicans would not defend.

What if Trump invoked the Insurrection Act and then announced that he was canceling the 2028 election? Would Republicans find a reason to get behind this? Or would they finally stand up to him?

At the point Trump would have this power, it would be too late and no, they wouldn't stand up to him. The time for that was in February 2021 at the latest.

Trump is completely irrelevant. Stop wasting thought time on him and the few idiots that still support him. He isn't worth it.

The sitting president can't cancel an upcoming election. Not happening. Turn off the cable news. You are embarrassing yourself. Trump is the worst candidate for president in US history and therefore has zero chance of winning in 2024 yet you are worried about him canceling the 2028. What is wrong with you people?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/11/05/trump-revenge-second-term/

Donald Trump and his allies have begun mapping out specific plans for using the federal government to punish critics and opponents should he win a second term, with the former president naming individuals he wants to investigate or prosecute and his associates drafting plans to potentially invoke the Insurrection Act on his first day in office to allow him to deploy the military against civil demonstrations.

Donald Trump has also said that he is going to appoint a special prosecutor to “go after” Joe Biden.

Do you think he will just hand the keys over to Democrats after his 4 years are up?

How can you people be this dumb? Trump will never be president again. I'm beginning to wonder what the true motives of these bizarre conspiracy posts are. We have real problems in this country. A washed up, soon to be dead, criminal ex-president is not what we should be concerned with.

What do we think guys?
Is the above poster …
A) not able to read a poll?
B) secretly Maga and playing 4D chess 😂
C) In the wrong forum and meant to respond to the Travis and Taylor thread in Entertainment
D) ALL OF THE ABOVE

Just curious, given Trump’s consistent lead in national polls, why are you so confident he will lose?
