DC government employees need to come back to the office. My company and many others in downtown DC started requiring 3-4 days in the office each week in early 2022. We are not paying these employees DC salaries so that they can work from home in Frederick. If they don't like it, then quit. 50% of DC government employees are slackers anyway. We can use those vacancies to hire more energized people.
Completely agree. As someone who has been struggling to find a full time job, I am sick and tired of feds and DC government workers whining and crying about the indignity of actually having to come into an office. You losers have had it great for FOUR years now. This isn't 2020 nor 2021. I don't think employers should be mandating five days a week in the office by gunpoint, but three or four is more than reasonable. If you were dumb enough to decamp to an exurb or make crazy personal life choices to try to take advantage of the depths of the pandemic or chose to raise your children in PW County or some other crazy location, that is on you. Not going to shed any tears for you. And this is especially rich coming from DC government paper pushers who pretend they have some incredible skillset that will be instantly in demand once they hit the private sector. Don't like it? Go get yourself a new job in the private sector. You are replaceable, never forget that. You don't have to buy $17 lunches. I never did. But you DO have to give a shlt about your community and support businesses that risked personal capital to open businesse while you sit on your fat duff collecting W-2s and complaining that you actually have to travel into the city to work, like we did for the previous 60 years. If you have a serious lowered immunity issue, I feel for you. You deserve accommodation. But all these whiners crying about having to come back into an office, shut up already.
For. The. Last. Time. DC Gov workers have had to come in to the office three days a week for at least two years.
