My stepsister opened her Christmas gift from her grandmother, held up the Lanz flannel nightgown, and said, "She obviously doesn't know what my life is like."

I'm old, so I was riding event horses in the 80s (and still am!) I miss the rugby shirts with the custom helmet covers to match. I also miss the skin tight black leather pants & jacket that I wore with my Joan Jett haircut.

Wow, you were a bad ass!

I LOVED 80's fashion. Like a PP I lived by the Preppy Handbook. Plus I worked at Talbots in a couple of college breaks, when Talbots was THE place to shop for preppy clothes. My favorites in the early 80's:

- my large collection of printed turtlenecks - whales, hearts, stars in multiple colors on white turtlenecks, worn under a coordinating crew neck sweater (blue whales under a green monogrammed sweater was the best combo)
- Bermuda bag with a monogrammed cover
- wide wale corduroy pants - including one pair in hot pink and another one with embroidered whales

In the mid 80's I was a little less pink and green (although those are colors I love to this day) and then wore:
- black Bass loafers with white socks
- girbaud jeans (which really did fit well)
- fiorucci t shirt with the angel on it
- Benetton clothes that I picked up on the obligatory post grad Eurail trip
- Vuarnet glasses

But then I moved to New England for grad school and had more mature preppy stuff. Lots of Carroll Reed and LL Bean.

My Espirit baggy (almost pajama style) pants that were black and white mixed patterns that I wore with black INXS Listen Like Thieves tour concert t-shirt and black creepers with zebra skin tops or in black monkey boots.

The women had the hair and bods to amaze back then.

Now the population looks sallow and devoid of health.

Huh? We’re fatter now for sure but young women still look amazing in bikinis, that hasn’t changed.

And high cut bikinis have come back around in style, they’re everywhere

And high cut bikinis look super ugly. I can’t believe people think those things are flattering. Do also think big poofy sleeves are attractive???

I had this high cut one-piece that I loved. My was peach and blue.
Maybe high cut is back in style, but the backs are all cheeky. I miss high cut with full coverage on the back. You were always adjusting your suit, but it was a great time for swimsuits. So flattering.

Oh, I had a suit like this, too! Super flattering.
