I LOVED 80's fashion. Like a PP I lived by the Preppy Handbook. Plus I worked at Talbots in a couple of college breaks, when Talbots was THE place to shop for preppy clothes. My favorites in the early 80's:
- my large collection of printed turtlenecks - whales, hearts, stars in multiple colors on white turtlenecks, worn under a coordinating crew neck sweater (blue whales under a green monogrammed sweater was the best combo) - Bermuda bag with a monogrammed cover - wide wale corduroy pants - including one pair in hot pink and another one with embroidered whales In the mid 80's I was a little less pink and green (although those are colors I love to this day) and then wore: - black Bass loafers with white socks - girbaud jeans (which really did fit well) - fiorucci t shirt with the angel on it - Benetton clothes that I picked up on the obligatory post grad Eurail trip - Vuarnet glasses But then I moved to New England for grad school and had more mature preppy stuff. Lots of Carroll Reed and LL Bean. |
| My Espirit baggy (almost pajama style) pants that were black and white mixed patterns that I wore with black INXS Listen Like Thieves tour concert t-shirt and black creepers with zebra skin tops or in black monkey boots. |
And high cut bikinis look super ugly. I can’t believe people think those things are flattering. Do also think big poofy sleeves are attractive??? |
Some of us rocked it. |
