You don't sound totally nuts. Not totally, can you try this - when the dog is inside and the owners are home go knock on the door, tell the owners that you are really scared of their dog but you don't want to be, ask if you can meet the dog and then ask if you can give the dog treats when it is sitting out side.

You might be mistaking the dogs "aggressive " barking for basic excitement and attention seeking, so just give being friendly to your neighbor a try. And take some dog treats with you.

Some dogs who bark are also scared. Their scary bark is to keep you away and it works! My dig is scared around kids because i think the kids he was around were rough ( i met the kids) and he didnt get good exposure to them. Kids are tricky to dogs.

The problem with put bulls is the strength of their jaw. There may be a high risk of biting from a Chihuahua, but a Chihuahua is not going to kill anyone. Pit bulls can and do.

I have been a dog owner for several decades and am never comfortable around adult pit bulls.

Friend was head of the local pit bull rescue. Her parents adopted two of the adorable pit bulls who escaped and went on a night long killing spree of other animals including several llamas. Longtime friends of the parents refused to enter their home after they adopted the second pit bull.

I have been to a few pit bull adoption events. No way. The puppies are super adorable, but they don't stay that way.

German Shepherds and Huskies are also two breeds that attack livestock animals. As far as the friends not wanting to enter the home maybe that is what they wanted. They did get two pit bulls!

The problem which you and everyone else ignores is the fact that "pit bull mixes" have a lot of different dog breeds in them. Why is it the American pit bull terrier dna and not the German Shepherd or Husky that you blame?

Also, why do you blame the owners of the other dogs that attack but when it come to pit bulls you solely blame the dna of the dog? Is a dog that is 75 lab and 25 percent American pit bull terrier a pit bull mix or a lab mix?

Deadly attacks on humans, by dogs, are overwhelmingly pits or pit mixes.

It's true that a Chihuahua is more jumpy and likely to bite, but chihuahas don't kill people... Unless there's a little pit bull mixed in

Like I'm fine? Did you mean five? Because your argument is more like a toddler. You are comparing apples to oranges. Why not compare a gold fish to a dog? Gold fish also don't kill.

Instead you should compare the dogs by their size. So instead of a chihuahua you talk about German Shepherds, cane corso, Rotiweilers etc

Because in dogs, function follows form. If it looks like a pit bull, it’s going to have more pit bull behavioral attributes.

Because in dogs, function follows form. If it looks like a pit bull, it’s going to have more pit bull behavioral attributes.

So if it doesnt look like a pit bull but is than by your logic it won't bite?

Why do pit bull advocates have to lie about what people say? Is it that you can’t read for meaning or you just don’t want to?

Any dog can bite. Literally no one argues otherwise. Pit bulls don’t let go till they want to. They go for the neck and face, the way their ancestors successfully brought down bears and bulls in the pit. They shake smaller prey from side to side.

No, if it doesn’t look like a pit bull, its that it won’t bite like it is its job. That big blocky head and stocky neck are the strength to keep biting and the resistance to blows and bites that might get it to stop, while the “Glasgow smile” is another feature that allows pit bulls to keep getting oxygen while still biting.
