Why do old people like pie?

Love pie! One of my cousins had a pie buffet instead of cake at her wedding and it was awesome.

Oh I heard that author on NPR and meant to buy the book - thank you for the reminder!

I just can't imagine what sort of monster is anti-pie.

Anti-pie people are probably the ones with the soggy, moist, rubbery crusts. That would turn me off, too.

I’m sorry, but you are wrong. Cold pie is the best breakfast one could have.

+1 My favorite part of Thanksgiving is having slices of cranberry walnut and apple pies straight from the fridge for breakfast on the Friday after. Also, there are plenty of pies that don’t need to be refrigerated.

They grew up at a time when there weren't as many food choices as we have.

IKR? There are at least two dozen flavors of Doritos alone.

What *is* the pie of the week, OP? I would like to think about pie for a while.

I am not OP, but I am using up a bag of Granny Smiths by making about 8 individual apple galettes in all-butter crusts. I don't add any sugar except for a sprinkle of demera on top, but I use a little lemon juice and a little vodka in the crust to improve the flakiness.

(not my pic)

Caramel Apple. Just got the update last night.

I have a pie challenge for you all: make an apple pie (a mix of Granny Smith and Golden Delicious will be perfect) and do not add cinnamon or any other spices. Enjoy the brilliant apple flavor that the cinnamon would have masked.

I’m not (yet) old and I love pie.

Try Pie Gourmet in Vienna.

I’m in my 40s and like pie, my teenage kids love pie though. I guess they didn’t get the memo that it’s for old people.

You want readers to fly to Austria just to try a piece of pie ?

This is why DCUM is no longer fun.
