Every old person I know LOVES pie. I only make and eat pie on thanksgiving. My in laws have pie every night (store bought). They prefer homemade, but don’t really cook much these days. They tell us every phone call about the pie of the week.
I brought our neighbor some pie I made (testing it for thanksgiving) and she acted like I gave her a million dollars. She was so excited for pie. I regularly bring her treats so it wasn’t the thought in general. |
| I think this is so adorable! I would be so down with discussing the pie of the week. I can't wait until I retire so I can make pie and coffee a happy focus of my life 😊 |
| Because it's good? Old people know stuff. |
| A friend of mine posts photos of her pies on Facebook. She’s probably 70. |
| Why do so many on this site hate old people? |
| It’s mushy and delicious and you can have it with coffee |
|
It's soft, easy to eat, predictable/familiar, and adds nostalgia .
Op- you make it sound like it's a bad thing old people like pies. What gives? |
I don’t hate old people. I just wanted to know their affinity for pie. |

Pie is delicious. Who doesn't like pie? I don't eat it often because it's kind of a pain to make and a lot of store bought pies are either very expensive or terrible (because it's a paint to make -- bakeries that do it right charge what it's worth, which is a lot).
I like hearing about older people who eat foods they enjoy because my mom and MIL both diet obsessively and are afraid of sugar and butter. They wouldn't eat pie, which is a shame. Pie is great. |

A good pie is a thing of beauty. I love pie. I am not old. Is it ok for a younger person to love pie?
|
Idk but WTAF! Stop being so ageist. It makes you look dumb, besides. |
| Who doesn't like pie? I don't trust anyone who hates pie. |
Ask your in-laws and neighbor. |
| From now on I'm bringing a pie to all my older friends. |
+1 My non-old husband loves eating pie.
