I believe his approval rating now is at 37%. He's a war mongering, genocidal, racist. I hate this man. I cannot bring myself to vote for him. It really is a decision of two evils. At this point, I may be stuck voting for Marianne Williamson. That's really all we've got.

Which would mean making a GOP victory more likely. So screw you.

Um, screw you for funding the mass murder of innocent civilians? I will not vote Biden and most of the Ds I know have said the same. Almost everyone that I know in the Arab and Muslim communities cannot stomach the idea. My DH said he will sit out. I will vote Williamson unless there is a more viable alternative between now and November.

And do you at all care about Israel? Doubt it.

Do you recognize that Israel's existence was predicated on the murder of thousands and displacement of millions? Why can no pro-Israel folks admit that? Its bad to kill thousands of people. If you can get Israel to remove illegal occupations, prosecute settler violence, promote equal rights for Palestinians, and end the dehumanization of the Arab population then I would gladly vote to continue sending aid. The current government is genocidal. Ben Gvir is putting forth legislation to allow IDF officers to open live fire during protests held by Palestinian citizens. Legal slaughter. It's inhuman. I do not want $6B annually in my tax money going to that regime.

This post demonstrates the problem perfectly.

IMO, the above is not "expressing sympathy for the Palestinians", it is 100% blaming Israel for its very existence (and everything else that's happened since).

I'm not suggesting it be censored, but this (and even worse) is what lurks below many of the seemingly innocuous "sympathy for Palestinians" comments.

And this post perfectly demonstrates the pro-Israel lobby's inability to recognize what happened in 1948. Do you not believe that the Israeli army with the funding and backing of the UK and US killed thousands and forcibly removed millions from their homes? Do the horrors of the Holocaust - committed by the German government - give the the IDF carte blanche to then kill and remove millions? And take away their humanity for a period of 75 years?

This is what I don't understand. Why is the pro-Israel group fine with killing an entire population? I just don't get it.

But thank you for PERFECTLY demonstrating that "sympathy for the Palestinians" is often really "hate for Israel".

Stop strawmanning. Show me when anyone has said Arabs aren’t people.

And of course you know Jews and Arabs are native to the region.

Seriously I cannot imagine a world where the Palestinian cause has *more* lack of censorship. I’m completely puzzled as to what OP is talking about.

+1
My Israeli friends are afraid of flying the flag of Israel. I have not seen any Israeli flags in our progressive neighborhood. None.
Israel went through a major tragedy, it was attacked with unimaginable cruelty, and instead of showing support, the public is victim blaming and supporting the country where terrorists came from.

And my Muslim friends (including ones who are not Palestinian) are afraid of talking over the phone about how the conflict is impacting them and their families because they are afraid law enforcement are monitoring their conversations. They think that just expressing sadness for the Palestinians killed in this conflict might be enough for the FBI to come knocking on their doors. They are truly afraid.

In our progressive town there are lawn signs in support of Israel. And “kidnapped” signs hung up in public spaces. Zero sign of Palestinian support (and Palestinian support does not equal support of the Hamas attacks)

This situation is sad for everyone. 5x the number of Israelis. Support for a ceasefire does NOT equal antisemitism.

Are you seriously saying you have a problem with the kidnapped signs?

The intent of many of the signs is to stir anti-Arab and anti-Muslim hate by pro-apartheid groups. For example, many of the signs in NYC are positioned outside Palestinian restaurants, Arab centers, or similar and nowhere else in the neighborhood. This way, if someone takes them down, you can be charged with anti-semitism when really the locations were primed specifically to blame the local Arab communities.

Plus, what are the signs going to do? Is someone going to recognize a face and call Hamas? The intent is to create hatred for a certain group. But that is acceptable because as long as you hate Muslims and Arabs, there are no repercussions. No laws against that.

I see the intent of the signs is to bring awareness of the act of violence. The next day after the terroristic act, anti-Israeli protestors were showing swasticas to the Israeli protestors on the Times square. Maybe seeing the kidnapped signs would help those siding with Hamas to see who are the real victims of the attack.

there you go. It's all in your language. You keep doing it: equating all Arabs and people who believe in the dignity and human rights of Palestinians as terrorists. It is precisely this dehumanization that has been on a slow rage under the surface. You cannot put Palestinians - and by extension all Muslims and Arabs - in this state of othering and less than (and for those in Palestine actual apartheid and extinction) without expecting complete and utter sadness, rage and frustration. It's unbelievable to me that you don't understand that

And to the signs, the placement is quite noticeable once you see videos of where they were placed. EG, Zaytoon in NYC is a well-known Palestinian restaurant. It's just a restaurant. There are 20+ signs right outside its front door and general vicinity - but no signs on any neighboring blocks or streets. Coincidence? Of course not. It's meant to demonize them for simple existing. Sound familiar?

There I went and noticed how you ommited any mentions of swasticas thrown in the face of Jews right after 1300+ of their people were murdered. You are doing all the dehumanizing yourself, sadly.

To add, the major issue is that those who are pro-Israel usually think that there was nothing wrong in the foundation of Israel. They cannot admit or recognize how many died or the generational trauma that was caused by forcing so many off their homes, into refugee camps, and a stateless existence. Aboriginal Australians have campaigned the AUS government for decades for an apology for what happened to them. I believe it was the "sorry campaign" becuase they just wanted some recognition for the wrong that was inflicted on them. For many Palestinians, it is the same. They want some recognition of the atrocities that were inflicted. And similar with Armenia's push to categorize what Turkey did to them as a genocide. But like the Armenia-Turkey issue, Israel refuses to recognize what they did to an entire population. It's disheartening to see how little humans are valued.

I never said I think there was nothing wrong with the founding of Israel.

My problem is when people cast it as a black and white “colonizer vs indigenous people” issue.

DP. I’m here with you. It is what it is. If you’re advocating for the destruction of Israel now, seriously GTfO

Ah, I see. So you:

- Deny that Jews are also native to the land

- Deny that Jews in Europe were stateless after WWII

- Deny that Mandatory Palestine was 30% Jewish

I'm curious as to whether this is actually genuine. If it is, please google Nakba (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=megzzpTWajg&t=3s). You will learn a lot about what happened to the Palestinians when Jewish emigrants arrived. Hint: Palestinians were slaughtered.

I would like people to stop dying and killing each other. That means I don’t support “free Palestine” or the crazy settlers. A two state solution isn’t sexy to talk about anymore, but it is the only acceptable end to this conflict.

I'm not your PP, but do you mean the 21% of Arabs that live in Israel and have the same rights as Jewish Israelis? That can vote, serve in government and have all the same rights as Israelis? Israel is one of the most diverse countries on the planet. Your post only seeks to dehumanize Israelis.

This is what I don't understand. Why is the pro-Israel group fine with killing an entire population? I just don't get it.

Argument on the facts belongs in the other thread.

But thank you for PERFECTLY demonstrating that "sympathy for the Palestinians" is often really "hate for Israel".

OP, here's your answer.

Once again, Pro-Israel can never, ever state that Arabs are people, too. Say it. You cannot admit that the native Arabs were people because then you could not delflect that everything was hate for Israel. Israel is genocidal and racist. And its supporters have deep seeded racism in their ranks. Do you dehumanize Arabs and Muslims as animals? I bet you do.

I absolutely do believe that native Arabs were and are people.

I absolutely recognize that both people have suffered terribly and that the history is difficult and complex.

I absolutely do not dehumanize anyone.

There's only one extremist here. Thank you for showing the world who it is.

You've done us all a service.

OP, you see the problem?

Well, I guess lucky for you you're killing nearly 8,000 Palestinians with 5,000 of them being Palestinian children. That should make you feel better. Nothing but dead animals, right? It's only the Israeli citizens who count.

Tell me who started the 1948 war.

Tell me who killed all of those native Palestinians in the Nakba. Please explain to me what happened to the native population when the Jewish emigrants arrived in Israel. Did they all just die of heart disease on their own?

dp. was there a war? genuinely curious.

What you meant to add is: yes there was a war. The Arab League started it.
