Examples of top programs in low ranked schools?

Baruch for financial engineering/quant finance - ranked #1 immediately in front of Princeton, UCB, MIT, and Columbia

Baruch grads go directly to Goldman, JPM, and top hedge funds at a higher rate than ANY other school in the country - for a fraction of the cost. Best hidden gem in the country if you want a NYC college experience and high paying finance job straight out of college - these kids kill it on the street

Stevens Institute, on the lovely banks of Hoboken NJ, a close second in this regard

Great topic! So many niche areas of study that need more exposure.

Wonder how well they are rated for Underwater Basketweaving?

Alfred University is top-notch in this area--ceramics, glass, material science/engineering. Not a joke at all.

There's a GDS kid going to Alfred this year for art and design.

It's #1 in the US for ceramics and top 10 for fine arts.

Some top 10 programs where I know DC kids who are currently matriculated:

Belmont University (TN): Music Business

Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia): Marine Biology

Emerson College (Boston): Film

University of Rochester for Political Science.

Top 5 program (with Harvard, Stanford and Princeton) in some sub areas of poly sci and top 15 overall.
I know a very top kid who matriculated there and was like "decent enough school but huh?" but it was a purposeful choice for her interest.

Marine biology at ... Eckerd College in Florida? I'm not sure about the school name.

this is a Masters Program, so technically falls outside the purvey of this list. But still, Baruch is a hidden gem for quant placement
