Place like UVA and Rochester are good in general. I think this list is for schools DCUM people normally ignore but shouldn't if their kids are interested in very specific fields |

It's not but for some folks it's t20 or nothing. I think it is great to highlight places I've never even heard and recognize they are top notch in some specialized fields! |

UMBC is really good in some computer-y field, I think cybersecurity. |
University of Maryland is I think #13 for applied mathematics. |
Link? US News has it at #19 for poli sci. The two sub areas it earned a ranking were international politics (#19) and political methodology (#7). |
