Their CDS shows there are only 33% enrollees submit scores. This is a minor concern to me.

It was the same at a private high school my kids attended too. No idea why any adult thinks that official peer judgment is a good idea in today’s world. Kids are anxious and depressed over feeling constantly judged already. May as well just hand them a rope or a gun.

Doesn't UVA do the same thing?

Yes and it's a huge problem there too.

Cheating isn't really addressed at UVA.

False. The student-run honor committe and judicial court is a very big thing at UVA.https://honor.virginia.edu/

False. All over UVA reddit and all over the minds of many parents of UVA students who are angry about curves being slanted because of dishonest people.

Not true at all

Not sure that is a correct statement. W&L still ranks over Richmond. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-liberal-arts-colleges?myCollege=national-liberal-arts-colleges&_sort=myCollege&_sortDirection=asc

Yes

Today’s US News rankings have very little to do with academics and a lot to do with diversity and social justice. Whenever you’re looking at a ranking system, you should do some research and look at what factors are used to come up with the rankings.

Are you suggesting UR is better for diversity and social justice?

No, they are not saying that at all since UR is ranked below W&L by USNWR in best liberal arts colleges

Richmond is in a residential area of a larger city. W&L is in a small city.

Yes. W&L has stronger academics.

Yes. W&L has stronger academics.

Why would you say that? The difference in rankings isn’t significant anymore.

W&L is the definition of a bubble for very well off, private school southern preppies. It's like being on another planet (or the most elite version of a junior country club). Be warned if you are not from this world, it's a tough 4 years. Also need to have floppy hair, like searsucker and elephants. The study abroad trips are also out of control....sometimes literally, know a kid who was airlifted by private medical helicopter...

W&L has very drunk parents at basement frat parties on parent's weekend.

Is this a trick question, every student at W&L.

The big difference between UR and W&L is the percentage of Greek. When we toured we were very put off by the fact that 80% of W&L is Greek (now 75% - I just checked) and participation is so expensive that W&L feels obliged to post costs of Greek life on its admissions page - which I’ve never seen another school do. The big downside to this structure is that the school has a hard time attracting URM students because even if given full tuition, they most likely can’t afford to participate in Greek life, so sit in the library from Thurs night to Monday morning while the parties are going on. I got this info straight from a chair of a dept who is a friend. We never applied.

As someone whose kid actually goes there (Junior) and independent, not in Greek life by choice, the above statement is false. My daughter and her independent friends go to all the parties and are often invited to fraternity and sorority formals as guests. Her social life has not suffered one bit because she isn’t in a sorority. All her friends on significant financial aid that do participate in greek life are able to afford the dues. The greek organizations do have some financial aid available. Greek housing is owned by the university so it is covered by financial aid like any on- campus dorm.

Either you’re still living in the 90’s or you don’t have any legitimate experience with W&L
