W&L is definitely stronger. You are correct that Richmond draws more from the Northeast.

It depends on what you mean by stronger. Potato potato.

W&L has a better campus and more sports. Academically there is no difference.

Hopkins is the only truly prestigious university in the DMV, Georgetown has prestige but not as much as Hopkins. W&L is the most prestigious LAC in the DMV that I know of.

Baltimore is not the DMV. The DMV is DC and the CLOSE IN suburbs. Most of Montgomery, parts of PG, all of Arlington and Alexandria, parts of Fairfax.

+2 Why are people referring to W&L and Hopkins as DMV schools? DMV is the DC area. DC proper plus Alexandria, Arlington, McLean, Bethesda, Potomac…not Baltimore or rural Virginia!

Yeah I find the campus a bit ugly and strange. “Woo slave buildings!” I guess being educated on the plantation has its appeal.

Are you sure you want to go down that road? Make sure you don’t have some well known Ivies or uva on the list.

I guess Radford and VT are DMV schools too then. 🙄

Radford and VT are DMV schools. They aren't DC Metro schools like GMU, American, UMD-CP, but they are DMV schools.

True. Almost every institution of higher ed on the east coast has ties to or was built by slaves, including Harvard. https://www.npr.org/2022/04/27/1094971897/harvard-university-report-slavery-slave-trade-reparations-students

It was the same at a private high school my kids attended too. No idea why any adult thinks that official peer judgment is a good idea in today’s world. Kids are anxious and depressed over feeling constantly judged already. May as well just hand them a rope or a gun.

Doesn't UVA do the same thing?

Yes and it's a huge problem there too.

Cheating isn't really addressed at UVA.

False. The student-run honor committe and judicial court is a very big thing at UVA.https://honor.virginia.edu/
