People tend to be ok with black guys in FedEx or Amazon Prime uniforms bc they are bringing them the loads of crap they order all day long. I'm sure there have been exceptions, but you really don't hear of someone being shot when they are toting a package.

Wtf. Why? The person reacted out of fear and shot this poor innocent kid! The perpetrator had choices. He could have NOT opened the door! When strangers knock on my door, I often don’t open it.

The LAST thing I would ever do, is pull out a gun and shoot them, for godsakes. We know this child was innocent. And now his life has been taken. I hope the person who shot him rots in jail.

Maybe it'll transpire that the kid was dealing drugs and it was a deal that went south.

Who knows. There's very little information. More will come out in due time. Maybe the allegation is right. Or maybe there's a lot more to it than we are being told for now. There have been plenty of instances when something that initially seemed like a horrible tragedy turned out to be much murkier once more information was released.

That's why I reserve all judgement until more is known and don't resort to knee jerk emotional reaction.

The shooter is in his 80s so, no, I don't think it was a "drug deal that went south."
Potential dementia

80+ yr old white guy with a gun? I'm guessing he watches Fox 24-7, sees reports of the crimes in Chicago, DC, etc. being perpetrated by black youth and hence ALL black youth EVERYWHERE are out to loot Walmart - or loot his home. Doesn't have the critical thinking to realize that one guy alone ringing is doorbell isn't there to rob, he's more likely there to sell solar panels or something. And in any event if you're one of those people who doesn't open the door to people you don't know, couldn't yell thru the door to ask what the kid wanted/tell him he had the wrong address??

FWIW, Kansas City has the 5th highest homicide rate in the country, higher than Chicago or DC. I don't know the city or his neighborhood - although when I looked at Maps, I saw that the house was one block from an elementary school.

Got it. IDK anything about Kansas City obviously but just saying that Fox will run hours of coverage on the packs of black teens who ran around Chicago looting all weekend or the car jacking sprees in DC and once old people watch that for hours and hours per day, having little contact ever with anyone who doesn't look just like them - they become convinced that ALL black youth everywhere are exactly the same. No black youth could ever be ringing a doorbell for any reason but to rob and mug in their messed up minds.

+1 I was waiting for my car at the dealership service center the day after the Chicago mayoral election and the whole time it was a split screen of the host/guest yelling alongside black people committing crimes.

Uh didn't say that and I'm not saying I'm ok with what happened - AT ALL. I'm outraged. Who shoots first and asks questions later whether it's a black kid or white kid or anybody!?

I'm just making the point that I personally know people who are very uncomfortable with black people - they see one in their neighborhood and it's - get inside, who is that person, he doesn't live here blah blah. Yet those same people have zero problem with 3 Amazon prime drivers stopping by daily. In one instance they even caught a young black Amazon driver not much older than this child on their Ring doorbell camera looking around their enormous custom built home saying the home was fire - and they proudly shared that clip of said compliment. Yet a black teen ringing their doorbell out of uniform, they'd be VERY uncomfortable.

And yet, these same people aren’t scared of white males who enjoy running into buildings/theaters/schools/clubs/concerts/grocery stores/churches to shoot adults and kids.

Exactly. It makes no sense. If you're scare of a teen black boy, why are you ok with white young men in malls or grocery stores or really anywhere given their anger issues??

Yeah I've never turned on Fox in my home but from what I understand they pick one issue and rant and rave about it to the point that it gets into people's heads - of people like this.

From what I have read, the area this happened in is a KC suburban section in a neighborhood called Red Bridge. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-search/Red-Bridge-North_Kansas-City_MO

“Lower than Baltimore or Detroit” is setting the bar at the extreme bottom.

Both are failed cities; Detroit even went bankrupt. Baltimore is an embarrassment by any measure.

That's a strange neighborhood - some houses built in the '50s and some new builds. Are they teardowns? A new development on some newly acquired land?

100% this.

We know the victim was an innocent Black youth and the killer was white.

All you need to know.

What’s your point (NP, btw)? Not innocent Black youth have also killed innocent White. Ignorance knows no color.
