It’s bullshit, though. The Democratic Party is no different today than when she ran and was elected as a Democrat. That is the same speech party-switchers have been giving since the 1960s. Everyone of them switched because they were promised some position or status or cronyism benefits by Republicans. Most of them have short political careers after switching because nobody trusts them.

I disagree. I think the Democratic Party of the past two years in particular has gone off the deep end in some respects. In particular it feels like they’ve adopted the party platform of extremists.

School choice is just not that much of a radical concept. It’s been around forever as an idea and in a lot of the country, Democrats themselves were fine with it, and able to live with it if they weren’t fine with it. But now it’s one of the third rail topics, I guess because a lot of politicians are actively courting teacher unions for donations. Idk why, to be honest, because even that isn’t new. But now, Democratic candidates that talk about school choice face significant internal party consequences and possible loss of party support. It is a change.
