Duke - you get to impress your hairstylist
Cornell - you get to impress the CS tech bro who's hiring |
For undergraduate, I almost always saw duke outrank Cornell. When talking about tiers, depending on how tiers are defined, I saw Cornell share the same tier with duke, or one, rarely 2 tiers below. I have never saw duke below Cornell on tiers. It is safe to say Cornell is half tier below duke, to be fair. Any way, they are both good school, you won't make a mistake by choosing either one. |
https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2023 cornell 20 duke 50 this is more in line with my experiences duke's a good school, but outside of basketball, not a powerhouse |
Haha. This made me spit out my coffee. |

| How Duke is T10 is a mystery. If considering individual departments/programs, few, if any, are actually top 10! And most consistently rank below Cornell. Am I missing something? |
This list is so funny that it's a complete joke. It ranks UChicago and ETH Zurich over Princeton. Ranks NYU over Brown LOL |
I only looked at the top 20 or so. But I think it's broadly relevant for graduate research. It's completely useless as any kind of metric for undergrads in the US however. |
If it were my kids, Cornell. We are better in cooler temps. |
| Duke |

Cornell is half public 2nd rate Ivy.
Duke is a level up. |
| Are the Duke fans comparing all of Cornell to all of Duke? Cornell is a huge school make up of 7 colleges. Engineering and CS are some of the most competitive. |
| CORNELL!!! b/c my boy is attending College of Engineering on AFROTC scholarship! |
Is Duke religious? |
| Let's be real, they are both excellent options. Let your kid go with his gut about where he would fit in the best. |
