I am 100% sure i've done more for my community than they have. The local taxes I've paid have far outweighed anything those two have done to positively impact the county. |
How nice for you. |
They want a pat on the back for paying for services they use. SMFH These people actually exist. |
Thank you, it's tough work. Much tougher than being a big time councilmember. |
Explain to me what these two have done to benefit the county? It's more sad that politicians like them exist. |
Then maybe you should consider running for a seat on the county council in 2026. |
The majority of voters disagree with you. |
But what have they done? |
*crickets* |
I don't think you understand. It's sad that politicians like most if not all of the current councilmembers exist. They are all a bunch of sociopaths. Literally everything they do - and they are the legislative body for a county of 1 million people, so the things they do matter - is about advancing their own political prospects. They do not care about the real impacts on real people as long as it sets them up for their next job. You would think at a minimum someone like Sidney Katz would stop caring about pissing off his interest groups, he's had a good career, it's time to stop caring and just do what is right. But he is as bad as anyone. |
Translation: the voters elected people I don't like. |
I mean I voted for several of the ones I am talking about because the alternatives gave me zero confidence. I promise, this isn't about ideology, it's about politicians in general. It's difficult to find someone who isn't sociopathic. They are all just responding to their interest groups. |
| at least as a DC resident I can rely on congress to check our crazy council |
They did disagree…how about now? How about in a couple of years? Circumstances do change the minds of voters. For example, the Mayor of Chicago: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/lori-lightfoot-becomes-first-chicago-mayor-40-years-lose-re-election-rcna71997 Quotes from another article: “Lightfoot's critics argue her defeat came thanks to skyrocketing crime, homelessness and her poor relationship with law enforcement. In 2021, homicides in Chicago rose to their highest numbers in 25 years, outpacing other crime-ridden cities like New York City and Los Angeles.” Sounds sort of familiar. |
I mean, we'll find out in 2026, won't we? However, Jawando and Mink and everybody else just got elected in November 2022. A lot can happen in four years, as you say. Your crystal ball is no more reliable than anybody else's. |
