That's dumb. I'm not taking water away from people in Africa or wherever when I take a long shower. Water scarcity isn't really a thing for those of us living east of the Mississippi. |
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/running-water-again-scarce-jackson-mississippi-after-frigid-weather-2022-12-29/ It's selfish is all. |
Last time I checked, the water supply in Arlington is in no way attached to the water supply of any city in Mississippi. And Jackson Mississippi isn't suffering from a water shortage, it's suffering from government mismanagement of its infrastructure. My taking a long shower makes no difference to their situation. |
I'm more like you, op. Fwiw. I've never had a complaint. |
I rarely do much cleaning at all below my knees. I guess I dry my lower legs and feet pretty thoroughly which presumably has some cleansing effect. But they don't usually get all that dirty. |
Would you ever think a used dish is clean because you let slightly soapy water dribble onto it and you didn't notice any spots on it? I would not. I actually wipe the dish.
I don't think you're weird per se but your husband is showering better. Especially with the feet. Gross. Wash your feet. |
Yes, if the plate just has some dry crumbs on it and isn’t really dirty. I might not even use soap. Gasp! |
Still wasteful. - daughter of a submariner who taught us to be frugal with water |
I’m like you OP |
I never put soap on my arms and legs because I have very sensitive skin. Like some of the others I wash the parts that get dirty. We’re overly hygienic in this country. (My dh is the same as op’s) |
Why do you believe we are overly hygenic in America? What evidence do you have? |
We don't live on a submarine, either. Your dad's experience as a submariner isn't relevant to those of us living in areas where there's plenty of water (and sometimes too much, when we get flooding). The water you use to shower isn't "wasted". It's treated and goes back into the water supply. |
You're really justifying your 10 minute shower. Why? |
DP. I am not a dish. People aren't eating from my body. |
I'm not trying to justify it (my showers tend to be at least 15 minutes), because I don't feel bad about taking a long, hot shower in the morning and one at night. I just find it strange that some people think you can "waste" water when you live somewhere like the east coast of the US, where water shortages aren't an issue. |
