Does DH shower weirdly or do I?

I have never used soap. When I shower, I use the shampoo to wash my body as well, I rub it around. Otherwise water. I also only wash my face with water but I am one of the 25% -30% of women who don't wear make-up

I actively wash my hair, pits, and privates. The rest just gets soapy drips.

DCUM has such a weird obsession with showering habits. It has to be a select few posters.

Some of you people are just funky. That’s why the metro stinks.
Use soap, warm or hot water, a washcloth and wash your bodies everyday. Then use lotion.

If you do not wash your entire body thoroughly, there could be Covid-19 or other sicknesses left behind which could later make your whole body sick.

Hasn’t anyone ever noticed the wide variety of soaps and lotions and deodorants at the store? That’s because there is a wide range in skin types. Also some people sweat a lot more. And some people get dirtier in their day to day lives. This means that different people also have different showering needs.

I swear it seems that this thread is populated by children who don’t understand simple things.

Ridiculous.

I have foot odor thanks to a childhood spent in locker rooms during swim meets, so I also clean between toes and all surfaces of feet. Face gets washed with face cleanser, pits and behind get soaped. Everywhere else (so arms and legs I guess?) get a quick hand wash with soap. I think different people need different levels of washing to get to the same level of cleanliness, so as long as everyone comes out clean, then have at it.

Why do your feet smell from locker rooms in childhood? 🤔

Got me, bacteria I guess? TBH I don’t really know, but that’s the explanation my mom gave decades ago. It started in high school when I was a competitive swimmer and traveling constantly for meets, and I’m the only one in the family that tends to foot odor. It’s fine during sandal season, and fine if I wear leather boots and rotate my shoes. Plus make sure to clean my feet thoroughly of course. Washable flats were a game changer when they first came out!

OP, did your husband grow up poorer than you? I find people who didn’t have a lot of money are more scrupulous about personal hygiene, out of concern over being considered poor AND dirty. The more class-secure are less worried.

In addition to thoroughly washing your entire bodily surfaces, it is crucial to use antibacterial soaps.

No, there's no need whatsoever to use antibacterial soaps. They're no more effective than regular soap in actually getting you clean, and are one of the things leading to the rise of resistant bacteria.

Soap, when used properly, is more than adequate to get people clean. I can't understand this weird obsession some people have with washcloths.

We didn't need to know this amount of detail. You don't soap your face? Do you not wear makeup?

Not PP, but I don't soap my face. Soap dries out my skin. I remove my make-up with a "make-up removing" washcloth or cold cream.

I wash my face separately, in the sink.

For the person with the DH who won't exfoliate (or for anyone else really), I highly recommend Salux Japanese washcloths. They are super exfoliating and make my skin feel very soft and clean.
