I don't view tipping an hourly wage person for service as charity. If you wish to share your money with physicians, pharmacists, attorneys, etc. feel free.

Op here. My soup and sandwich were about $15. Interesting to see the restaurant owner post above about not tipping on carry out and yet people are rabid.

Fast food is different from non-fast food restaurants. They pay the workers more than wait staff get paid. I think your pharmacist also gets paid more than wait staff get paid although if you want them to keep supplying you with those happy pills you might want to slip them a 20.

You order online and the kitchen staff put it in a carry out box vs plate. They put it on a shelf and hand it to you. It’s no different than fast food.

It's quite different than fast food. You might want to just stick to fast food or eat at home. Restaurants are not for you.

Some people are definitely rabid but it's not the ones who tip. One restaurant owner described what happens as their restaurant, that does not convey to all restaurants.

Op here. I am anti tipping for take out, to go, carry out, whatever you want to call it.
If I’m sitting in your establishment, using a table, and you are tending to me- you get a tip.
If I walk up to your counter, point at something, you hand it to me, and I leave, I’m not tipping.
And I’m calling bs on people claiming they tip at chipotle, Starbucks, McDonald’s etc.

It seems perplexing to you to comprehend that workers prepared the food and packaged it for you. No one can force you to tip. Posters here are pointing out why others do.

I also started ordering take out via doordash or Uber eats because then I just pick up my order and there is no tip line glaring at me. I do carry $1 bills around for tipping but if I don’t see a jar I don’t go looking for it

10 dollars for takeout is ridiculous unless it is large order like 15 items. Some restaurants do 10-20 takeout orders an hour easily. Should the employee make 100 dollars an hour?

One restaurant I get takeout from frequently clearly does around 30 takeout orders an hour from 4pm to 8pm. The same worker handles the greet, payment, and hand off. Another worker(s) pack up the food. 30 times 10 is 300.
