Capital Orange Parents - If you could do it all over again

So, sure club has its role, but its the families economic means that does this combined with the talent and drive of the child. Being on CLC or M&D may get one or two reflected credit for a handful of solid players but there's too much evidence that the common denominator of all this is money. Money drives this train.

I don't disagree money plays a big part. It's expensive to get private lessons, go to a private school, get on the better clubs which are not cheap etc. I would also throw in the politics, especially in the DMV. You have to know the right people, practice with the right coaches, etc. It's exhausting and expensive. There seems to be less politics in Maryland, with an emphasis more on talent and less on the car you drive or private school you go to.

DMV area is the worst as everyone trying to “one up” each other. At the end of the day, no one cares once they get into college. Most everyone looks back at HS and laughs at how crazy they acted during those times.

+100. This is a non-revenue sport and the time and energy are definitely all mis-spent.

It’s not mis-spent if it gets your white, private school, UMC kid into an Ivy or other T20 school that you can afford - the goal of most Capital girls.

Or if kid is truly great and ends up going to a top state school (UNC or UVA) for free but this is super rare and never for Capital girls. It does happen for a very few from Skywalkers or M&D.

Agree it is ridiculous if all it gets your kid is a spot on the roster of a high acceptance rate college that kid could have gone to anyway.

The school kid could have gone to anyway does not mean the DD can play lacrosse. It is not ridiculous. Judging other's choices is ridiculous.

To the original question. A team over B always, no matter what the Capital Orange families say.

Just recall that a few years ago one of the heads of Capital moved his DD to Skywalkers when she didn't make Capital Blue. That should tell you something.

I totally get what you are saying here, and that may have been the key if it was owned and run the same way. However, after that happened, Gussie bought the team, and things have been running very differently since then. In a good way

Just because the club is run well does not mean u play for Orange over an A team somewhere else. Does she put the best coaches with Orage. People are bought into the brand "family," vs best place for DD.

Did that person not make Capital Blue but then made Skywalkers A? Interesting.

Yawn...it is a well known story that the Capital Blue 2022 coach was awful and made some very questionable choices during the tryout process, cutting a half dozen players who then went to programs like Sky Walkers Blue, M&D Black, and MC Elite, most of whom are now D1 college players at great programs. Said coach lost job the next year but the damage was done and the Cap Blue 2022 team had a very mediocre run of seasons and a bunch of players who ended up not being recruited by great D1 programs. The 2023 and 2024 teams have been much more successful under different leadership.

Correct and is now playing for Navy.

So if so many players are unhappy with placement, when will they transfer/leave for other teams? After the summer or see if they can get picked up by another team for the spring/summer tournaments? Curious if this happens will Orange take new players before summer tournaments or play a few players short.

Cap Blue 22 coach is very shady and thinks he is god's gift to coaching. He just pretends to be everyone's friend to your face, then once you walk away he will be the first one to stab you in the back. Just my opinion, but not a fan at all.

Well let’s be honest, recruited thanks to KJ and dad’s connections. Girl was at SSSAS where her dad was also assist coach. She was going to a good lax program no matter. But yes, the original Cap 22 decisions were pathetically bad and that class never recovered.

You mean the Cap Blue ‘21 and Blue ‘24 coach. His DD was cut from blue ‘22 but he didn’t coach that year.
