Will the GOP stop whining about CRT, transgender people, wokeism, and covid moms?

I hope they do not. I have always voted for Democrats, but until last election I voted D without even/ever considering voting R. Since 2020, I make sure the D I’m voting for policies, actually align with my own on the most important issues to me.

I want nothing to do with extremist, either to the left of to the right.

To me:

YES to abortion rights at any gestational age - it is a decision to be made by the pregnant woman and her doctor;

YES to equality- but no race to the bottom. Figure out a way to bring everyone up or to offer the same opportunities. NO to lowering the standards so there is a false equality.

YES for gay rights. NO for hiding from parents what the school calls their children or anything else - that brings mistrust between schools and parents.

YES to being forthcoming about school policies and instruction materials. DEFINITELY YES to allowing parents to opt their kids out of instruction they deem harmful or against their beliefs.

The fact that Democrats think it’s some badge of honor to have struggled so terribly just to *tie* Republicans in the Senate and lose the House to Republicans is just embarassing. We were up against the likes of Herschel Walker, whose own kid exposed him and we still couldn’t get anything resembling a mandate.

Do you have any idea how badly they’ll beat us if they don’t let Trump pick the candidates next time?

I swear we need a third party because Ds are so bloody low IQed and Rs are cruel.

I’d be very afraid if I were Democrats.

Thank you person dho doesn’t understand the first thing about politics.

Parents have always had the option to opt their kids out of school lessons they don’t agree with.

There is also the option to use private or religious schools, as well as homeschooling.

People have truly lost their minds re: schools.

They have to talk about nonsense, so their voting base is a few people who have time for stupid rants. Otherwise, how will they percent the regular folk coming for them with pitchforks?
Otherwise, they will have to say my PAC is into not raising wages, keeping taxes low for the rich, keeping people dumb, and ranting against immigration; one would say he is paid by Chinese businesses, another by Health Insurance companies, etc. So are democratic politicians, don't get me wrong. But many people understand and vote with the logic of "who will do the least harm to the people in this country and me and who might give me a tiny bit of consideration."

If there is a divorce among any of the three GOP factions:

MAGA
Evangelicals
Traditional Conservative

to the point that one of the three stays home or goes third party, then the Dems will win. The GOP simply doesn';t have enough people to support it without all three coming together. As you watch the GOP try to pick a new Senate Minority Leader and a Speaker (assuming they take the House) while DeSantis and Trump battle it out, you will see the clear lines being drawn.

Then you have Cheney, Kintzinger and the Lincoln Project lobbing bombs from the sidelines.

Of course it hurt them. Instead of attracting voters by representing their views on protecting reproductive rights and protecting democracy from coup attempts, they wasted their time carrying on about these issues of little consequence to voters. Are you not paying attention to where the votes materialized this cycle?

If you think the outcome was a backlash against anti-trans etc stuff then you are misreading the results. The two main issues Republicans got backlash against were abortion and 2020 election denialism. The Dems need to learn from this as well. Stop giving the social issues oxygen and learn to respond in a way that attracts the middle.

I don't think the voters gave a rat's ass about the trans stuff and all that time and energy and money invested by republicans on that issue cost them. they could hav used that time and energy and money to actually try to attract some votes.

This entire “war on schools” agenda by the rightwing - CRT, “grooming,” “gender ideology,” etc - was created to deflect from mass shootings at schools.

That’s it.

Think about who benefits from over-the-top Strawman scenarios that are not happening at schools? And also might make elements of the public feel less sympathetic toward students and educators? If you attack schools on all these issues, you’re no longer talking about Uvalde. And, in fact, maybe those darn teachers had it comin’

Again, this is from Montgomery County’s own website:

https://montgomeryparks.org/events/drag-queen-story-time-6-copy/

Exposing young grade school aged kids to scantily dressed people of any gender on the public dime is okay with you? I bet at least 80% of the country is not okay with this.

Democrats are right to hammer Trump and decry post Roe overreach and lunacy. But please don’t think advocating for Drag Queen Story Hours is a ticket to political success.

Find pictures of a drag queen story hour where the queen is scantily dressed. I’ll wait.

DP. This has been asked and unanswered many times. Maybe you will finally answer: What is the point of drag queen story hour and what benefit do children get from it? We'll wait.

Like most programming designed for children, it’s fun and kids like it. It brings them joy and exposes them to literacy in a fun and engaging way. It’s not that deep.

Dressing up like storybook characters would also be fun, bring joy, and expose children to literacy in a fun and engaging way. What is it *specifically* about men dressing up like over-the-top, garishly made up women that you find healthy and beneficial for children?

Uh, that is what they are doing. But sometime, it may be a man dressed as snow white or a worman dressed as one of the dwarfs.

It is fun, the kids love it and stop being a sourpuss.

Yes, I get that. What no one has been able to explain is WHY having a man dressed up as a woman is so important to you and what benefit you think children are getting from seeing this?

Why are clowns so beneficial for children? What benefit do you think children are getting from them specifically at birthday parties and circuses? Should we ban clowns at children’s events too? Why is a man wearing a red nose so important to you?

How about mascot/character costumes? Do children really get any specific benefit out of having them at Disneyworld? Why is a man dressed as Buzz Lightyear or Peter Pan so important to you?

Being a woman is not a costume like a clown. Having men dress up in a vampy caricature of a woman is straight up misogyny and offensive.
Why are democrats insistent on treating women like a costume?

Um, none of those things are "so important" to me. (Especially clowns - wtf?). Why are drag queens so very important to you - especially reading books to children?

No one will explain to me what the point is of clowns and how specifically benefit children! I guess we’ll never know.

Being a woman is not a costume that you can take off and on at will like a clown.

While that is true you need to remember what the Democratic coalition is. A significant part of that coalition is never Trumpers and moderate ex-Republicans. If those people stay home or switch back then Democrats lose.

Why are Republicans so obsessed with genitals and what people wear? Particularly the genitalia of children and athletes? The obsession is downright perverted. Red states have SO.MANY.PROBLEMS., and the only thing you’re offering is genital inspections for like, 2 transgender athletes. Shame on you.

I’m not talking about a massive divorce in which they denounce Trump. Merely remaining silent about their positions on his election theft theories works too. They couldn’t do that before now because these midterms were the first national test of election denialism as a campaign strategy. Now, that they have losses to show the R base, the political will to avoid the topic for the sake of beating the Ds exists.

There are many more registered Dems and GOP...the Dems just need to keep their base active. The GOP is about to splinter into 2 or 3 factions.

You are forgetting that with a slim majority, the GOP will fracture over who becomes speaker, assuming they even can take the House.

1/3 of the elctorate is independent and there's a sizeable amount of both RINOs and DINOs. I'd say more than half the electorate votes against rather than for either party.

Dcums, I am a bit confused about this topic. My understanding was that it was generally not acceptable for a member of a dominant group or oppressor class to appropriate the physical attributes of people from marginalized classes for the purposes of entertainment and comedy. Why are people advocating for this behavior and promoting it to children?
