Election denialism is why Republicans didn’t sweep the Democrats. That tells me that even a small retreat from Trump’s lies will have Rs killing us next time around. The fact that Democrats think it’s some badge of honor to have struggled so terribly just to *tie* Republicans in the Senate and lose the House to Republicans is just embarassing. We were up against the likes of Herschel Walker, whose own kid exposed him and we still couldn’t get anything resembling a mandate. Do you have any idea how badly they’ll beat us if they don’t let Trump pick the candidates next time? I swear we need a third party because Ds are so bloody low IQed and Rs are cruel. I’d be very afraid if I were Democrats.
If there is a divorce among any of the three GOP factions: MAGA Evangelicals Traditional Conservative to the point that one of the three stays home or goes third party, then the Dems will win. The GOP simply doesn';t have enough people to support it without all three coming together. As you watch the GOP try to pick a new Senate Minority Leader and a Speaker (assuming they take the House) while DeSantis and Trump battle it out, you will see the clear lines being drawn. Then you have Cheney, Kintzinger and the Lincoln Project lobbing bombs from the sidelines.
While that is true you need to remember what the Democratic coalition is. A significant part of that coalition is never Trumpers and moderate ex-Republicans. If those people stay home or switch back then Democrats lose.
There are many more registered Dems and GOP...the Dems just need to keep their base active. The GOP is about to splinter into 2 or 3 factions.
1/3 of the elctorate is independent and there's a sizeable amount of both RINOs and DINOs. I'd say more than half the electorate votes against rather than for either party.
