#1 on the 1st grade WL would automatically get a spot as classrooms get larger. Kindergarten has 26 and 1st grade as 27 spots. |
| Does anyone know if there is normally movement on the waitlists (again) before the last couple weeks leading up to school beginning? I think we are a handful of spots away from getting into Maryvale. |
| For the folks on the waitlist for first grade and up are your kids already fluent? Do they make you test in? |
- yes also heard this about that immersion. Chinese isn’t as all encompassing as the French and Spanish immersions. |
There seems to be not much movement in the last few weeks of summer since those who accepted are mostly committed, but there is a bit of movement again a few weeks after school starts after some families decide they don't like the commute or don't think it's a good fit for whatever reason. They can admit new kids if a spot opens us through January of K, so there are some late entries. |
| Did all siggnlings get into RCF via the lottery this year? |
Siblings? |
Testing in is only a requirement for 2nd grade and above. K and 1st do not have this requirement. |
Teacher quality varies. The first grade teachers counsel out students if they can’t test well at the end of the 1st quarter. A second grade teacher is very weak in my opinion. |
| Have any 1st graders moved off the waitlist? |
| Gosh does anyone truly think a ‘leader’ in Moco - either in school system or in public office has to yield to this lotto system? Gosh I wish the Post would stop being the PR vehicle for this corrupt system and really do an analysis on which pols kids are in which specialized programs. This whole system just reeks. |
I know, right?! Even the new superintendent's kids go to school in Prince George's county! |
| Has anyone gotten off the waitlist recently? If so, which school, grade and waitlist number if you don't mind sharing? |
I would like to know as well. Still waiting to get off of WL for BRES 1st grade #2 |
| Every year the results of this lottery is fascinating. Would like to hear as well |
