Naive parents. |
More like parents who pay to send their children away on school trips so they can do other things on the weekend. |
You just cemented PP’s comment that you are not well. |

I'll be the voice of irresponsibility on this thread, I guess.
We were on a drive across the country and in one motel (like a Hampton Inn type of place), had a room with our young toddler that didn't have any separation between the sleeping area and sitting area. DD goes to bed at 6:30pm. We then went down to the lobby to eat the takeout that my husband ran out to grab. Eating in the room silently, in the dark, hoping not to wake her, did not appeal. We have a video/cloud baby monitor app so we kept that up while we ate. It was relaxing and I would feel comfortable doing it again, but not with a slightly older child who could get out of bed and move about the room. I am sure my own parents would not have thought twice about doing this. Expectations these days are kind of insane and way out of proportion to actual risk. |
I don’t doubt you think that. Be well, too. |
Only on DCUM will I be scorned as a bad parent for trying to enrich my kid’s life with travel and experiences away from home. |
They need that drink. |
Well my kid went on overnight field trip in fifth grade and there wasn’t an adult in the room. |
| No one is forced to be a parent. It was a choice and that comes with responsibility even if it inconvenient. |
Your anecdotal story makes it okay? |
