Age to leave child alone sleeping in hotel room to go downstairs?

At what age would you feel comfortable with putting a kid to sleep in a hotel room and then going downstairs in the same building to get a drink or hang out in a lounge? Assume kid has a phone and knows how to call the adults in an emergency….

Calm down. Nobody said that they were considering this with a toddler. 12 seems perfectly fine to me if the kid is responsible and knows how to put the deadbolt on the door, has a phone, can call you or the front desk, etc.

DP here. So what is your answer? Surely there is an acceptable age. What is it? I left my 16-year-old in the hotel room alone this past weekend. Was I wrong?

I agree I would do this at home, definitely not at a hotel. The drink can wait or be brought to room.
