Why so much disgust felt towards men for dating significantly younger?

Oh no. We were wrong. We take it all back. You definitely showed us. I apologize.

I think some men are really into this idea and speak in a way that is disrespectful to women their age or older. They fetishize youth in their partners and dismiss all women over a certain age as ugly or gross. It’s understandable that these women would then be offended.

Even as a young woman I was grossed out by the whole “trade your 40 y/o wife in for two 20 y/os haha” joke. I think it perpetuates a tired and cruel idea that a woman’s worth is derived only from her beauty and that beauty can only exist for young women. I don’t think that all men who date younger women believe this but there is a loud and vocal group that does. I understand why they bother women of any age.

I heard the “trade their wife in for a new model” jokes when I was in elementary school and even back then I knew enough that it made me furious.

Women on DCUM want to be valued for their resumes, which makes sense in a job interview but makes little sense when dating.

Apology accepted. Loving the growth!

They want to bend men's dating preferences to fit what they desire in themselves. Sometimes it doesn't quite work out...

If that's the case, just be fine being single and value those things in yourself all day long instead of moaning that the world won't bend to your will.

Old men are hilarious. Really. You think it’s about you. It’s about their dad.

No one believes that you just came back from lunch with a 28 year old or that she didn’t mind your presence.

If someone makes a joke like this, frankly I am thankful because it's an alert to keep away. I could not care less about idiotic comments like this. You realize that they usually say 'jokes' like this to make you feel upset and insecure right?

Um no they were not making jokes like this when I was in elementary school so that I would overhear them and feel insecure.

But obviously I stay the hell away from people who make “jokes” like this.

The “girl” you had lunch with. Did you get her male birth name before her transition?

It took 8 pages, but finally got the honest answer to OP’s question. Why the disgust? An ignorant and bigoted mindset.

Well done, everyone.

This is called a faulty generalization and I’m surprised to see someone cling so tightly to their opinion that they’d make such a dumb argument.

You know I didn’t think much of this until I read this guys comments. Now I am going to think of him when I think of older men dating younger women and it is pretty 🤢

Don’t worry he’s just writing bad fiction. There are whole Twitter threads devoted to making fun of men writing women, this would fit in well.

Wait, you’re assuming a woman who wanted a business meeting is a potential sexual partner?

That is just what she was going on about today. Sick of her job. Not the first time we've met up.
