Brilliant! (I'm now going to go hide in my bed.)

Yes, I stopped watching it because I found it too stressful. But I went back to it and became completely engrossed. This is simply the most upsetting and frightening show I have ever watched. But it is good.

There were deviled & poached eggs. What else was on the highly prized egg bar? Drinking egg creams, maybe

Deviled eggs were really popular in the 70's and 80'. A lot of imagery looks like a throwback to 4 decades ago. Like the computer video when Helly met quota.
That's the other thing about this universe. The computer technology seems to come out of the 80s.

In that episode where Irving is having a wellness session, Ms. Casey says Your outie likes the sound of radar.
In the last episode we find out his dog's name is Radar.
Whoah! Missed that!

Loving this show - it feels very West World-ish to me. But was thinking, since Helly is an Egan, why would they risk giving her a “real” severed position? Wouldn’t they create some faux amazing position for her innie to ensure she had a great severed experience, so as not to risk exactly what happened (I’m sure they didn’t anticipate that her innie could ever get “out” but her innie being miserable/self harming could leak out, or could make Helena second guess things)

I had the same question as well. Why not give Helly a cushy job or no job at all? Possible explanations are that Macrodata Refinement is the cushy job or that they are incredibly shirt staffed and need all the bodies they can get.

Also, the cars. Cars seem out of the 80's

Any thoughts on the shrine and Harmony’s creepy bedroom?

Before that episode I was wondering what Harmony's motivation was. Why would someone want to be involved in their work life outside of work? Why is she so involved in the Mark's outie life?
But it makes sense if this company is also a cult.

I haven't finished the entire season, but I'm pretty convinced that the aren't doing any real work. The employees are the work.

Exactly - it’s crazy that they would let Helly have the actual experience instead a manufactured lovely experience. She would not be waking up on a conference room table like everyone else. It’s too risky. And as soon as she was unhappy, they would have pivoted to make everything better. Why didn’t Helena demand that when her innie made that desperate tape and threatened to cut off her fingers?

Anonymous wrote:What a season finale!!!!! Still trying to figure out the whole Burt. Feels like there is more to it…

Hope it isn't something like they are brothers or cousins.

Did anyone catch the To & From names on the printed off emails in the trunk? I meant to go back to look.

DH thinks there is more to the Burt storyline because Burt’s name was on the map.

Agree - I think there's more to Burt and Irving.

I got the distinct impression from Irving that he's been there a really long time and has become perfectly indoctrinated. Almost too perfectly.

Remember when Gemma/Miss Casey is sent back to reprogramming or whatever? I think the same has been done with Burt and Irving at some point - and that they worked in the same department in the past, like during that coup that Dylan kept talking about.

At first I thought the employees were being tested on like lab rats but now I think they are actually doing work.
But I think there's something in their severence brain chip that alters their perception. The numbers on the screen they have to sort are actually something else.
The items Optics and Design make are not what they seem. Like the watering can and the hatchet might actually be other things like a medical device and a weapon.
And maybe the baby goats aren't actually goats but are human babies.

I also think there might be a history to Irving and Burt.

One thing about them both, is that they've been at Lumon a long time. In the scene with Helly and her father in the bathroom he mentions bringing home a prototype chip that's blue and green. I imagine that Irving and Burt got early generation chips. I wonder if they still have the same ones or if their chips have been replaced. That Irving's outie can remember the elevator at Lumon would make me guess he has the same chip which may have had a few bugs.

What a finale. Can't wait for the second season.

Is it just me or does he look really….not good? Is it just for the purposes of the show, or has the last two years worn all of us down? He’s only 48 but he looks thin and haggard, almost sickly.

That's Adam Scott? I thought for sure it was Tig Notaro.
