Anyone else watching? It’s so creepy and so good! |
It’s so good! |
I’m loving it, super intrigued. It’s like an extended black mirror episode and I love Adam Scott.
Is it just me or does he look really….not good? Is it just for the purposes of the show, or has the last two years worn all of us down? He’s only 48 but he looks thin and haggard, almost sickly. |
Wasn’t crazy about the surprise suicide attempt. And the all black all white lighting. |
I think he’s supposed to not look good. Notice his hair is way too long - not in an on purpose way but in a can’t be bothered to get it cut way. His outie is an alcoholic, in deep grief, and his innie is being psychologically abused.
He looks terrible, I agree, but I have to believe it’s for the part. |
Plot talk if you aren't current, don't read.
Will someone remind me why the woman is so desperate to quit? I don't recall anything happening to her . does she, as in innie (makes me think of belly buttons) not like loss of control & agency of herself. Seems the company would have screened her out from severing for mental health reasons. Wonder if she suspected her suicide attempt would be stopped. Also, the boss is not severed. Her outtie (belly button) is faking, correct? What do you think the "numbers" are they are isolating? From what we have been shown, the rest of the world is relatively normal? Like there isn't a zombie horde or genocide going on. I don't understand why the innies would even need to know that there were outties. Would have been cleaner to only have the innies exist at work not knowing anything else. |
I really like it and look forward to it every week. It's frustrating but addictive that the episodes generally end with cliff hangers or big unexplained reveals. I think Adam Scott is good but I think the supporting cast is really what sells it. I am not familiar with Britt Lower (Helly) from anything else but she is very compelling so far. Patricia Arquette has been particularly good in that role, even though I would not have thought of her based on a description of the character. Turturro and Walken are fantastic and also hoping to see more of Dichen Lachman character (she's the one who administers the "wellness" treatments) because she was really excellent in Dollhouse and hasn't gotten much to do yet.
One of the reviews I read said they much preferred the "innies" stuff to the "outies" stuff and I really disagree. The "innie" stuff is fascinating and really enjoyable (and often really funny) but for me it only works because we are getting these glimpses of life outside to put it all in context. The tension between the two is really intense. Can't wait for next week. |
No, he always looks terrible. I was once getting on a flight out of LA with my kids and he got off the plane we were boarding. He looked awful in real life and this was probably 10 years ago. He has particularly narrow shoulders I noticed, which kinda made me shudder. I am watching this show but have to look away when the camera zooms in too close to him. Yes, this is an extreme reaction. Sorry. |
I just started this show yesterday and have already binged most of what's available so far. |
That's Adam Scott? I thought for sure it was Tig Notaro. |
She’s desperate to quit because her entire existence is in the basement. She never sleeps. She’s just there. Forever. |
Her outie trapped her in an underground nightmare with no memories. I thought her outie would say she can it quit because of a gambling debt or a medically fragile child or something, not because the innie’s feelings don’t count.
I’d be concerned about what was happening to me if my innie was desperate to quit |
I love it! Can’t wait to find out what’s really happening in the O&D dept |
Safe to assume at this point that all of their outies turned to severance for relief from difficult/unwanted/unmanageable feelings … but those feelings are now seeping into their innies’ feelings/experience? Helly (suicidal tendencies), Mark (grief), Irving (same-sex attraction)? |
I love the fact that the show is full of these huge movie stars playing small (or ensemble) roles. |
