| Denied. Oh well we knew it was a reach. I feel for those with amazing stats who were denied. Hello Towson or UMBC! |
| DD accepted into the Honors College. MCPS, 3.98uw/4.83w, 1530, NMSF. |
| Rejected. 4.7 weighted. 3.98 unweighted. 27 act. Upset. |
Scholars is a residential program where the kids select a focus and have a seminar once a year and live together. It makes the huge university a little smaller. My DD got accepted but didn't go to UMD. She chose a program with a political science focus, if I remember correctly. Scholars are guaranteed on-campus housing for two years. (Honors college students are guaranteed on-campus housing for four years.) But you can still live on campus after year two, you just have to be lucky enough to find on-campus housing. |
Why do they have spring admission? What does student do in the fall? |
| 3.6 uw/1520/top private school. In at a top 10 university already. Rejected from Maryland. What a wild ride. |
What???????? Really? OMG! I can't believe it. Are you in-state? |
Yes we are in-state. Very upsetting. |
I’m so sorry. GPA is incredible. Did you submit the test score? This might be a lesson for this year’s juniors. |
Unbelievable. Honestly. |

Accepted.
Honors College, CS, Asian-American Male. MCPS magnet, 1590 SAT/4.0 u/4.8 w/12 APs ECs, honors, internship, awards, community service etc were also pretty impressive considering the COVID disruption for 10th and 11th grade. Not athlete, no hooks, in-state. |
This is nuts!!!! I would love to hear UMD's explanation. This is crazy! An outrage! Is your kid in public school? |
|
I think it is very hard to get into Engineering and CS this year because even more high stat kids are applying for these courses.
Many people chose UMD for in-state tuition, but many more are choosing this because they don't want to pay huge tuition for virtual classes. If pandemic continues, I don't want to pay OOS private school prices for virtual classes for my kid. |
What major?? |
