[/quote Kids who are Spring admits can join a program called Freshman Connection. That allows students to take freshman classes they would normally take only later in the day with Freshman Connection students. Supposedly the classes are smaller than regular classes which is a real advantage. The kids are freshmen like all the other freshmen. They live in the same dorms, participate in the same activities only they attend classes specifically designated for them. Everyone I know who has a kid who did this program thought is was great and provided a wonderful start for their kid at UMD. In the Spring, the kids join the other freshman in their humongo classes.
