What’s the deal with Carillon - do most folks accepted into it do it. Besides all the holistic advantages, what are the real advantages?

1480 SAT. Lots of AP classes, weighted GPA 4.3. Spring admission

I am so pissed.

To add: applied Arts & Sciences

I’m a professor at UMD, a liberal arts department. This is bonkers to me. There is no way that some of the students I have in intro courses could have these high school grades and stats. Some of them can barely write a coherent paragraph.

Not even a Spring admit?

No. I am so upset. I am going to appeal but I realize it will have no impact. I don't know what the issue is. She could have tried test optional, maybe, but what's so wrong with 1400? 720 verbal. This process is a joke.

I’m so sorry.

In at Smith and the Honors College. 3.98 uw/4.65 w no test scores. Lots of academic rigor and a couple of long-term ECs, leadership and community service.

I am pissed for you. That’s awful. I’m really sorry.

I would be, too! I hope your appeal is successful. FYI, she could probably transfer in after first semester. I know they don't like to see C's on report cards, not sure if she got any. I know because one of my kids was rejected a few years back and asked why. They told her she had C's on her transcript. Although her grades were lower than your kid's. They will tell you why they rejected her, but it may be a while before they answer the phone because everyone and his brother will be calling.

Is it much easier to get in from other parts of the state than from MCPS and other high performing areas?

DC got in to Engineering. FCPS - 1560 SAT, 4.53 W, strong extracurriculars with leadership, involved in research from 2 years . Got into FIRE program. How is that different from Honors / Caroline community?

I know this is trifling compared to those dealing with rejection. We've had our fair share of that too. Any info welcome.

Did she get into Scholars?
The letter should say if she got into the Honors college

It just says School of Music and is from School of Music admissions. Would there be a separate letter from general admissions? Or is School of Music separate from Honors College/Scholars?
Thanks for any info.

DS admitted to College Park Scholars Program. What is that?

1460 SAT, about a 3.75 uw, 4.55 weighted, most rigorous curriculum. MCPS. Admitted for spring.

Seriously? Wow. Nothing wrong with the spring program but those are really strong stats. Didn’t apply engineering or anything?

It's very hard to get on right now. Took DD a while to get her letter.

Still no link to a decision on DD's portal. Could someone show where it is supposed to be posted. On the portal page, she has the "view details" button and nothing else. No link to a letter. Nothing. Anyone else? (And, yes, we confirmed her application is Early Action.) She's so frustrated knowing the results are out, would appreciate any help.

Someone posted a screen shot on the college confidential thread. Looked like there was a button to see the letter.

Scholars program had been great for my DD who is now a sophomore. They take a seminar every semester and live in the same dorm and do activities together related to their chosen scholars focus. She’s in a science major but her scholars program is arts. She loves it.

DS just admitted into chosen major and scholars. 3.9 weighted. Test optional. Strong EC.
(He may not end up going although I hope he does)
