Watch the interview.. really upsetting.

It's tragic but I'm pretty sure this is not the kind of thing the board of education handles. It seems like you just want to use this family's tragedy for your own political agenda.

Wrong. When your child's needs aren't being met you ask the school for a different placement. This is done for thousands of kids every year.
The law this falls under is called FAPE. Free, APPROPRIATE, education.
Students are sent to different schools of their intellectual level is higher or lower than peers. If their social skills are different than peers, if they have genetic disorders, even if they have adhd and for some reason their needs aren't met in the classroom at the home school.

It sounds like she asked, was denied and appealed to the board of education and was denied again.

We don't know the reason for her claim but whatever the reason was probably behind why her child was being bullied and she was right. Northwest was an inappropriate placement for her child.

You're speculating a whole lot here. Why not wait for the facts to come out?

So you have now shifted from trying to discredit a grieving mother to parroting language used after police shoot someone?

Some this is wrong with you. Like deeply and seriously.

I have never seen a post get pushed down to page 2 so quickly.
Who's trying to hide the board of education 's complicity?

Maybe people don't find all the speculation worth their time?

I will say, when our child was assaulted and bullied at a well-regarded middle school, not only did the school administration refuse to punish the aggressors, but they accused my child of asking for it. Since some of the aggression was sexual, this was beyond the pale. Furthermore, although our transfer was approved, the initial COSA was denied and "no evidence of bullying" was cited, although in fact there was a wealth of evidence, including police reports, doctor's reports, and video. They wanted so badly to sweep the entire thing under the rug that they let us leave, but disguised the reason.

By that point we were all so angry and disgusted that all we wanted to do was go so we took the deal.

I'm not against MCPS as a whole and I think it's quite a stretch to blame this tragedy on the entire system. I suspect it's more like our case: some individuals dropped the ball. I'm sure it happens all the time.

I’ll take a stab and name the cluster - Churchill - so the middle school was Hoover or Cabin John. That’s just my guess because I have seen that same tactic used at Churchill and like you, my child left. The same leadership runs the show

Now, if it’s outside the cluster and not under the same Director then it truly is a systemic way of handling bullying and harassment complaints in MCPS. Deny, deny, deny and let the bullying and harassment continue.

Or maybe it’s just Montgomery County falling apart.

Agreed. I’ve lived in this county for 15 years and have watched this county decline in so many ways. Our County leadership is a disaster.

Yes, people continue to elect the same type of people.

Why are Montgomery County residents so demented?

With the shooting at Magruder, the gun at Wheaton, the mugging over shoes at Northwest, and the death of a Northwest student - MCPS found a way to take parental concerns off of COVID.

Not the same cluster. So maybe you're right. Maybe this is something systemic. Maybe it was the BOE in the end that pushed the broom while our principal lifted the rug.

Honestly, at the time we were so broken by the experience... the only way I could fight was to fight for my child going forward at another school. And that actually turned out great, so my story has a happy ending. But when I look back... when I see our old principal getting accolades and people rhapsodizing about the middle school... It's hard.

Taking the concerns of a grieving mother seriously is “speculating”. Something is wrong with you.

Random DCUM posters deciding this happened or that happened isn't taking things seriously. The police are conducting a homicide investigation. The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy. I hope we learn more information about this crime soon.

You are arguing a straw man about the investigations. You dispute, without evidence, her assertion that her kid was bullied and her request to the BOE to address it was denied and that’s the problem.

PP you're responding to: no, I am not disputing anything the student's mother said. Maybe you are bickering with multiple posters.

No. You are confusing Jailyn with either the former NW student who committed suicide or the 14 year old who committed suicide this week.

So there are 3 suicides and a murder or 3 suicides and no murder?
