Schools closed January 3 and 4

We will extend our plans to stay with family. Totally for testing. Totally don't understand why school is closed 2 days (why not 1, a rapid test is 15 min)

They are requiring it. If you don’t present a test at the door they will rapid test your child right then and there.

We’ll see. I doubt dcps will do that but if the cases rise like crazy they may pivot and make it the whole week. Virtual learning won’t happen as a whole, just on a school by school basis.

Just proof your child tested negative for covid. They didn’t say if it had to be a rapid test or not though. I’m assuming the test should be from the last week at least.

But what proof? I am not trying to be difficult, honestly. The rapid tests we have taken to date don’t have a way to prove who took the test. It’s not like you get a paper record or something.

This will all yet again fall on the vaxxed people who have been doing as they’re told this whole time (and those families were likely to be rapid testing at home after being in groups/traveling anyway). This is a whole huge logistical nightmare that once again burdens kids because we have chosen schools as our scape goat for community spread while the bars, restaurants, theaters, and so forth stay open.

We opted our kids out of DCPS testing. No way we're going to test them before school starts up again.

I doubt more than a relatively small percentage of people will take the Mayor up on her offer.

Well I guess I can thank people like you for ruining my holiday. If you want schools to stay open you need healthy staff. Omicron is going to cause rolling closures as Staffs get wiped out.
