Schools closed January 3 and 4

Did they say whether they are making up these days? Before you jump on me, I’m ambivalent about whether they do just please please please not in June.

I hope DCPS has a lead on obtaining these tests. To the general public, they are currently difficult to come by. I hope this is not aspirational on the part of DCPS. Can they really have one test for every student and teacher AND get results processed in a day or two (or have that many rapids at the ready)?

Why not in June? Does it interfere with your personal plans? There are scheduled snow days already on the June calendar, which most likely we won't need, so can use for this.

They said they have confirmed orders for 1 million tests.

The CDC is pushing it.

Your school will be contacting you when to pick it up.

Happy about this but note they clarified that students will be encouraged but not required to use the test. So it is suggested test to return but not required.

ITS NOT TEST TO RETURN

They are “highly encouraging” people to test. Negative test not required to go to school

I'm really pleased too, especially with test-to-return, rapid antigen tests readily available and expanded PCR test-at-home kits.

Yes. I also noticed how they kept emphasizing the safest place for kids is in school. All those posters freaking out about school closures are crazy.

It is not a plan. It is a whimsical dream. She will leave others to plan with fragile promises like tests on order (read: not actually ready to distribute).
Where are the building substitutes and COVID contractors that were part of her plan? She announced them before funding was even approved. Bait and switch, Wizard of Oz stuff. DCPS cannot pull off impossible things just because she's declared it. Her strategy is to appear wise and shift blame.

Because those days in June are useless. No one is teaching anything June 23

Which to answer someone else's post means, no DC is not committing to having this in place before kids come back to school, having enough tests, reviewing or requiring results, etc.

Again, lots of talk. Poor action.

Better than anonymous posting. Run for Mayor if you think you can do better.

Test to return is a recent CDC guidance that just came out. They said they will have more on this
