There's always discussion on the forum about what are the top schools and I'm here to help. I combined both the USNews and WSJ rankings to create a more accurate and complete ranking. These two are the most reputable in circulation thus why others weren't used. 1.Harvard 2.MIT 3.Stanford 4.Yale 4. tie Princeton 6. Duke 7. Cal Tech 8. Columbia 8. tie Johns Hopkins 8. tie Northwestern 11. U Chicago 11. tie UPenn 11. tie Brown 14. Dartmouth 15. Cornell 16. Vanderbilt 17. Washington U 18. Rice 19. Emory 20. USC 20. tie CMU 22.Notre Dame 22. tie U Michigan 22. tie UCLA 25. Georgetown 25. NYU
Well, UVA is tied with CMU on USNWR for no 25, so I'm gathering your kid didn't get into UVA?
No, UVA is 25 on USNews but 55 on WSJ for a combined rank of 40. I guess it's another notable omission.
But USNWR is all that matters. All the other rankings don't. That's why all the colleges are trying to get top stats kids to report to USNWR. USNWR runs colleges in the US because they are so beholden to it. Wrong, but still true.
USNews isn't all that matters. Every single one of these schools posts the results of WSJ indicating that they care about this ranking as well. They don't post Forbes or Nice so I didn't use it.
