It is not just Asians who are against expanding access to TJ, it is people of every race who are fighting for segregated schools.

Fixed that for you.

I’m sorry - segregated schools? Are you the poster who thinks leaving Maggie Walked high school and Langley High school are just fine but TJ which is the only minority heavy school is the only problem?

This! At least the students at TJ earned it by passing a test. The students at Langley earned it by... having rich parents?

Keep deflecting. It's great, especially when it comes from people who've made clear for years they look down on every high school that isn't 70% Asian and doesn't have a cheesy fake Rotunda out front.

You're accusing us of deflecting...by deflecting and refusing to respond to the point - wow you've learnt a lot from Trump. There's no logical arguments that can be made with you, since you just won't respond to them, you'd rather call us names and insult us.

Also, what's with this massive chip you're carrying on your shoulder - apparently we're looking down upon every high school that isn't 70% asian - are you just inventing new asian crimes now? Where are these large numbers of 70% asian schools in NoVa btw?

Um, that would be TJ now. And the “what-aboutism” when comes to Langley is a joke. Asians at Langley were among those throwing the biggest fit when there was even a hint of changing Langley’s boundaries. Sorry, not sorry, you are going to have to deal with some changes.

Thanks for confirming that TJ is the only majority Asian school in NoVa - I can see how you would be upset by that.

Asians are under-represented at Langley, so when you say Asians are among those throwing the biggest fit about the rezoning and I see petitions launched only by non-Asians, forgive me for not believing you, especially when you've presented no sources to the contrary. You still seem to be defending the demographics at Langley and Maggie Walker. Your hostility appears to be uniquely restricted to TJ.

Liar. Asians are over-represented at Langley, just not to the same extent as at TJ. Do you never check your facts before posting BS?

Non-Hispanic white students are 47 percent of Fairfax County's high school students. But at Langley: 73 percent of the students are non-Hispanic whites. At McLean: 61 percent, according to school numbers. Madison's non-hispanic whites are at 73 percent, and Oakton, 62 percent. But sure, complain about the Asians!

Langley is 63% white and 24% Asian. Whites may be overrepresented at Langley but Asians are not underrepresented.

You're right about the percentages - I just looked up the current data from the fcps school profiles. I relied on data from the Patch for my earlier post. It's also 1.96% black.

Why, really, are you so upset with the people at TJ though? It can't be about the lack of URM representation, otw Langley/Madison et al would bother you just as much.

I’m sorry. I didn’t read the whole thread. I was just commenting on the percentages of Asians.

I have nothing vested with TJ. Don’t plan on sending my Asian kids there. My kids will go to Langley for high school.

Sounds like Indians are their own worst enemy.

Ignore the chatter about how progressive Indians are

No african Americans should ever apply at an indian company

That entire case was THROWN OUT of court because it was bogus.

Remind me again how many Indians black companies hire? Tell me about these 'Indian companies' in America. Please provide the names and races of their CEOs and leadership teams and board of directors ( who are most likely all white and black)

Or maybe ALL black people think like Ugandans that expelled all their Indian origin residents from the entire country- taking their land and properties while at it. Or like the Durban riots in South Africa when hundreds of Indians were murdered- "Give us two days, have your ships ready and there won't be an Indian in the country."

You know minority races are huge monoliths right?

And let me guess-- You are a White male that benefits when there are race tensions within minority groups. Same old story with the riots in Durban. Same old story with all the colonizers of the world throughout history. The White overlords only benefit from minority group racial tensions and fighting.

Somebody mentioned a few pages ago that the new MCPS “peer cohort” policy for their gifted & talented programs ended up bumping up the white population at the expense of Asians. Any sources for this? I suspect that will happen in TJ as well. I wonder how many years it will take people to realize this (or if the data will be hidden). These new admissions policies are going to help whites A LOT more than URMs in the long run. That is not acceptable to me.

Here is the complaint from PLF about the MCPS middle school magnet admissions changes.

It's long but a good read if you want to learn the history. It's hard to refute what happened, whether you think it's justified or not.

The data you want is on page 30.

Takoma Park (Before changes/After changes)
Asian-American: 45.6%/31.5%
Black: 8.1%/13.4%
White: 33.2%/41.5%
Hispanic: 6.1%/8.8%

Eastern
Asian-American 31.4%/21.8%
Black 9.5%/12.4%
White 44.3%/45.4%
Hispanic 6.4%/11.2%

Upcounty STEM/Clemente
Asian-American: 66.0%/50.6%
Black: INCOMPLETE DATA
White: 14.2%/21.8%
Hispanic: INCOMPLETE DATA

Upcounty Humanities/MLK
Asian-American: 58.2%/30.3%
Black: INCOMPLETE DATA
White: 18.7%/34.6%
Hispanic: INCOMPLETE DATA

For reference, here are the racial breakdowns across all students in MCPS:

Asian-American: 14.1%, Black: 21.4%, Hispanic: 32.4%, White: 26.9%

How sad for the Asian community that they come across on this forum as Trump-supporting privilege hoarders. It’s not true of most Asian Americans we know even if it’s the case for so many Asians with ties to TJ. So glad they don’t set the local or national agenda.

As faucci says. Data speaks for itself. Asians have overwhelmingly voted for Democrats. And against Trump. Contributed significantly to making Virginia blue. Now when they are under direct attack, no one is stepping up to protect them. And they shouldn't protest either. Sad! We are first time voters. Having become naturalized citizens after a long process. Privilege hoarding. Hah! My family and I have spent time, money and energy in our efforts over the last few months to get Trump out. We are more SJWs that people who just speak about it and do nothing. And I still think our logic to fight Trump is right. I hope our efforts will be worth it. However I am so so disappointed that when Asians are being singled out for attack, there isn't enough protest by the rest of the community. I reassure myself with the thought that eventually truth and hard work will triumph.

Peace!

Only the subset that obsesses over TJ feels like their fief is under attack.

You're saying this to camouflage your own racism. I'm glad though, that you're no longer saying that all Asians are monsters, just the ones at TJ. Is that right? You're threatened only by asians who speak up, just like you're threatened by women who speak up, or by minorities who proudly claim their place. We're fine as long as we know our place / stick to our lane yes?

Not true. I am not even from Virginia. 1st gen immigrant who has fought from coming into the US with nothing. I feel viciously attacked. Seems like Asian immigrants are being sacrificed at the altar of white guilt. With a lazy solution (?) that very cleverly benefits white folks. Two birds with one stone. Create division and claim moral victory while benefiting self. Genius...

+1 well stated.

-Another Asian American immigrant who despises Trump.

How sad that white privilege liberals think it's fine to stereotype Asian Americans but not others.
