This is very valuable to us, and we will pay."

To me, it sounds like the captors have said she's died (no proof of life), but they have to pay to get her remains. Absolutely horrible.

Celebrate with her? Wouldn't they say "celebrate her" if she died?

These kinds of scripts are carefully written by hostage negotiators. She clearly said "celebrate with her."

Yes I clearly heard it. But you don't celebrate with someone if they are dead.

This just doesn't make any sense at all. Poor woman. I hope she's still alive and will recover.

They would leave her where she can't be found. I believe his is what has happened. I think she died when whomever broke in or entered her house early that morning.

I saw some former fbi agent or something saying that the blood droplets on the steps were actually a good sign. The pattern indicates she was upright, so likely alive and walking. It also wasn’t a lot of blood so not likely any major injury at that point. He said that amount of blood could happen very easily on someone that age with a minor skin tear.

If the motive was to kill NG for revenge or inheritance or whatever, no need to take the body. So to take her they at least thought she would live. But I’m guessing she died accidentally and now the kidnappers are screwed.

They want a "celebration of life" with their mother's body.

They aren't going to drop the official news of her death in this video, hence the cryptic language.

This is not difficult to understand.

Of all the ominous things in that message that was the least ominous.

Very sad, it does seem that the family was informed she is passed on and they are asking for her remains to be returned for a proper wake and burial. They will pay to have that peace.

If they thought she was still alive they would have either acknowledged proof of life or asked for it again.

I saw an interview of the local news reporter that received the latest message from the captors. She wouldn’t divulge the contents, but she implied that it was very bad news. I feel awful for Nancy’s family.

Seems like a really strange move to tell them she's gone and still expect them to pay up. Why not drag it out letting them think she's alive?

I don't think she died right away. Seems the perps were trying to get attention with the ransom notes but they weren't taken seriously early on, which explains why they started sending more to multiple outlets. There was no payment on Thursday because there had been no proof of life (maybe she'd died at that point).

Or because they are scammers, they don’t actually have her and these letters without a way to contact the kidnappers or pay them are fake.

How are they supposed to pay if they have no way to direct the money or receive the victim?

The arrested scammer was the one with the account not the “actual” letters now.

I’ve seen online chatter that the response videos are AI. I hadn’t believed this. Savannah’s hair appears a different color in the most recent video to my eyes. Strange.

The oddest thing I’ve seen so far is that this is a lead up to a huge reveal at the Super Bowl.

depends on their religious beliefs. Getting the body back for proper burial and ceremony can be important to some.

I’ve been thinking about this too. I think the captors knew they were stuck since they couldn’t provide the proof of life the family demanded. So now they’re seeking to cash in on the body.

But there's no need to actually tell them she's gone. It's not like they are good and honest people. String them along, get the money, then drop a body.
