Good for him. That really is refreshing to hear a Democrat state, "this is not good for our country and it is unsustainable."

From what I understand, he’s a favorite to win NH in the primary. Keep an eye out for scandals and attacks now.

It's still just so unbelievable to me that you can walk into a country illegally, be briefly detained, and then just released to do whatever... for years. It's just crazy.

With dates that stretch into the 2030s.

Yep. No other country in the world allows this nonsense.

To be precise, no other developed country in the world allows this nonsense.

Haiti or El Salvador or Somalia I'm pretty sure don't care. I guess this is the model some US politicos have in mind.

It truly is a national security concern. A huge one.
I fear it will take another 9-11 type attack for this administration to get serious about securing our borders.

Please, this administration would welcome that, as it would bring them more power

Expect Hillary Clinton to come out of the woods and accuse him of being a tool for Russia. This is their MO.

I would like to see the verifcation of the 2 million figure. I have a hard time believing anything coming out of a GOP twitter account.

Sorry haven't read this whole thread - but I assume Rs all love that Biden has taken control of the border? You all predicted it would be chaos after Title 42 expired, and instead border crossings are way way down - you're all very excited and praising Biden, right?

On the low side, the Biden administration has released at least 2,020,522 illegal migrants encountered by CBP at the Southwest border into the United States — more people than reside in 13 U.S. states, or roughly 35,631 migrants more than the combined populations of Dallas, Texas, (1,259,404) and Seattle, Wash. (725,487).

That figure doesn’t include the 1,373,155 illegal migrants who were detected entering illegally but who successfully evaded agents at the Southwest border under Biden, known colloquially as “got-aways”; at least 385,000 in FY 2023, according to Chief Ortiz; 599,000 in FY 2022; and 389,155 in FY 2021.

Add them in, and you are now at 3,393,677, again not counting the unknown (and hidden) number of migrants released by OFO after June 30, 2022, or aliens transferred by CBP at the Southwest border to ICE and released after that date. That’s just 375,808 fewer people than live in Los Angeles, America’s second-largest city. Add in the unknowns, and the migrant total likely exceeds LA’s population.

He hasn't taken control. At all.
He is simply making the encounters "legal" by granting parole to those that enter using the CBP One app.
Parole is supposed to be on a case by case basis. He is using the app to grant parole en mass.
This administration has failed.

In 2022, apart from legal immigration, U.S. border authorities encountered more than 2 million undocumented migrants, some of whom repeatedly tried to cross the border, according to newly released U.S. Customs and Border Protection data (according to Forbes). There have been 18 consecutive months of over 150,000 undocumented migrant border crossings.

The entire population of Washington, DC is roughly 671,000 residents according to the most recent Census Bureau data. More than 2 million immigrants have entered the US (not including getaways). That is more than three times of the entire population of DC proper.

According to The Washington Post (reporting on May 11th this year), the city’s new Office of Migrant Services has spent more than $15.1 million on hotel lodging, food and other services, according to the Department of Human Services (DHS), which oversees the agency.
The expenses are projected to climb to $52.5 million by October.

DC has received just over 9.000 undocumented immigrants from Texas to date. DC tax payers are on the hook for this.

In my opinion, I would think that roughly $53 million of DC taxpayer money would be better spent on improving schools, social programs and even our crumbling infrastructure.
