The science behind masks is so weak. The only quality RCT showed cloth masks didn't work at all and surgical only did for people over 50. This was all pre-vaccine too, and only done on adults. I love when people say they're following science because Tony Fauci and Rochelle Walensky say it (like they're the gods of science). These 2 are the same 2 people who fail to acknowledge natural immunity, which is the only reason humans have survived countless plagues since the dawn of man. They have 0 idea of risk and think the purpose of life is viral avoidance (for a virus with 3 vaccines available that is never going away). This mandatory masking junk will go in the trash heap of history. It also became so politicized by people on the far left (not mainstream Ds) to signal your political virtue. I'm a D and very against forced masking of kids. For some COVIDian to call me a Trumper just makes me thankful I voted for Youngkin to stop this anti-science nonsense. |
You're smoking something really strong. Masks do work. They always have. They've never been the ONLY tool in the mitigation chest.
But keep pretending that science is fake news when science simply learns from new information. |
When the doctors, nurses and staff at doctors offices stop wearing masks, then I'll consider it. But until then, if they are wearing masks, then I am wearing a mask. Face it, as a teacher, I am much more likely to come across someone with Covid than they are. If they are wearing masks in their sterile environment, then I will wear a mask in my very unsterile environment. And I expect everyone else around me to wear a mask as well. If they don't, then I will leave. |
That literally makes no sense. They are dealing with sick people all the time. It makes sense they mask. I wouldn’t blame them if they wanted to do it forever this point. |
??? Covid has only had pandemic status for the past 2 years. Prior to Covid they didn't wear masks regularly or require them. Because of Covid they now wear them and require them. Of course her post makes sense. You're the one being obtuse. Now that I think about it, I completely agree. When the staff in doctors and nurses offices stop wearing masks, then kids in school can stop wearing them. Until then, masks on. |
Humans invented the nuclear bomb, supercomputers and transplanted organs, but only figured out the magic cotton worked 2 years ago. Mind you - 14 RCTs were done prior to 2020 on the flu and masks, which showed no statistical difference. But masks work. Also, the only solid RCT on masks and COVID showed cloth masks don't work. But masks work. Even though it's not a law for adults, let's forcibly masks children for the rest of time. We have no idea what forced masking for 2+ years does for kids' development, but masks work until proven they don't work. Makes sense. |
Say it louder for the people in the back! Fellow dem here. Also voted for Youngkin. So many have lost their grasp of this being a public health matter and are clinging to the political virtue signaling as though their lives depend on it! |
Cloth masks should have been labeled n5 or n10 and there needed to be a concerted government and industry effort to make small high quality masks from the get go. And there should be good studies going forward. One day, a more virulent variant or a different virus that is more dangerous to children will come about and we will all wish that we had bothered to fix the issue of quality respirators for children and studied the efficacy of masking in schools for the sake of children in future pandemics. |
How have humans survived for 100K years without the magic mask? A mask has really became a worship ritual for followers of the COVIDian faith. |
The Branch Covidian faith lol. |
It is a public health matter FFS. Masks help. Better masks work better. We are still coming down off of a huge surge. DC: ![]() |
Same here. Thank god Dems seem to be regaining some sanity on masks this past week. We still aren’t out of the Scary variant woods yet so unfortunately will prob vote R in midterms until I can’t trust a politician wont force a mask on my toddlers again. |
A doctors office is by no means a sterile environment! That’s silly to even say. I think you are confusing a doctors office with an operating room. Go ahead and ask your doctor if they consider their office sterile 😅 |
Actually doctors offices and schools are full of germs which is why the comparison is apt and the teacher’s logic is sound. Right now, covid transmission rates are still categorized as high thus desire for continued indoor masking right now is reasonable. |
