case western experiences?

Anyone with an actual experience of what its like at Case Western, especially if you are undecided. How much do they guide you? Is the cost worth it? We got merit aid but its still going to be more expensive than attending umd. Thanks

Can't speak to aid, but our friends' DS, who really thought he was going to an Ivy, ended up @ Case and has been beyond happy. Loves his classes, loves his band, loves his social life. Just really beyond happy. GL to your DC on making a decision.

I think Case is the most underrated college and can't wait until next year when we can put it on my DC's list.

I think it's because (based on my experience with my older DC) their marketing arm is terrible.

I'm sorry I cannot answer your exact question, OP, I hope someone can

Its in the top 3 for my admitted DS, would also love to hear people's experiences with there. We toured in August and going to Admit Day in February.

I went to Harvard and spent a lot of time at MIT because my boyfriend went there. I once spent a week living in a Case Western dorm (Taplin? I think that’s what it was called) with a friend from high school and attended a semi formal there. The vibe was EXACTLY like MIT. Smart, pleasantly geeky, passionate kids. I would have been happy for my kid to go to Case.

Went to CWRU as an engineering undergrad during the 90s, it was tough academically but it was the best decision of my life. Winters were pretty rough but you get used to it. I made life long friends and after all these years they are more like family now. I will send my kids if they want to go there. The campus and the surrounding area are much nicer now than it was then. There are lots to do in and around the campus and Cleveland is a much nicer city than what people generally think of it.

Case is an excellent school and provides a great college experience even beyond its academics. Well worth the price in my opinion (and experience).

Every student has a counselor within their major once they declare but every student ALSO is assigned a Navigator June/July prior to beginning their freshman year. The Navigator is a faculty member that a student works with for their entire time enrolled. They contact the student during the summer before freshman year and start the process of getting to really know the student well and to guide them both academically and beyond (advice about research and internship opportunities, overall campus opportunities, as a resource for questions, etc, etc).

The support and guidance is there at Case x100. The school gives voice to supporting their students but their actions show that they do.

I had a dream that I got into Case Western last night. Checked the application portal, was so excited, the whole thing.

I'm a 41 year old New Yorker with a master's degree and very limited interactions with the Midwest. My kids are in elementary school.

Seems like a great school and clearly my subconscious thinks so!

Well, PP, I also recently had a dream about my acceptance to college (I am 52 years old) and your dream-school is higher ranked than mine!

I don’t know anything about Case Western, but my older is a hs junior and he and I are both innundated with CWRU daily emails plus he has gotten paper mailings from them, so I think their marketing dept is certainly active.
